HI there!

In about a year, year and a half, I'm gonna be moving to New York and will be attending NYU. As of right now, my plans are to stay in a dorm instead of romming in an off-campus apartment. How is the parking situation on the campus? I'm gonna be using the S to drive everywhere, and was wondering if the dorms even have available parking. All I keep hearing about are shuttles that will transport me from my dorm to the campus, but never anything about parking. CAN I even HAVE my S while attending NYU? Thanks in advance. I'll be staying in University Court just to give an idea of what dorm I'll be in.

leave your car in cali.. here in nyc there are two methods for parking.

1. park on the street. we have this thing here called "alternate day street parking" which means you'll have to go out every morning and switch sides of the street.. good luck even finding parking. if youre going to nyu, you'll probably have to park waaay over by tompkins square out in alphabet city. over there there arent any parking meters, but the alternate side parking still exists.

2. parking garage. be prepared to shell out anywhere from $200-$500/mo for parking. more than likely it'll be a valet service which means that your car is going to be in the care of people who give about as much a shit for your car as they do for ending world hunger.. the less expensive garage would probably be outdoors on the extreme east or west side.
the parking garage on broadway @ astor has student discounts, as well as the one on 9th street. im not sure what their monthly rates are, but you can easily find out.. call 212 555 1212 and ask for kinney parking on 9th street.. tell em youre a student and you need to know their rates.. important - ask them about their rates INCLUDING TAX! parking tax is something like 18%..

there is a third alternative.. give me $100/mo and the keys and i'll let you park it in my lot :)

hope this helps,
brian

NYU does not have parking on campus. Big bucks to park in a secured lot everyday. Leave the car at home and take mass transit. You are never going to need the car if you live in the dorms anyway. Everything is a walk or subway away.

Ok obviously you've never been to NYC because NYU is not the conventional "campus" We don't have grass, trees, parking lots etc. The school is in Manhattan get it? It's in a huge city. There's no set area for NYU buildings. There's some classroom buildings scattered about, with office buildings, stores apartments etc in between. And your dorm could be as far away as the Upper East Side, about 40 blocks ok?? There's no space for people, let alone cars. If you want to park you must follow the steps listed above.

Hey turb0mikey!

Remember me from SuperHonda? I used to always go to the V6 Accord forum. Still the same old Mikey... :p

Thanks for the good advice guys, I guess I'll just be storing my car.
