Default biggest tires on stock AP1 Rims?

looking to get some track tires/slicks. Need the biggest size. Got a deal on hoosiers for 275, but man, I wish, but I know it's not gonna happen.

but give me some feedback on experience, what you heard?

thanks.

225/50 front, 245/45 rear

I just got Kumho V700 VictoRacers in those sizes. The fronts REALLY bulge out on the 6.5" AP1 front rims. At first I thought they'd put the 245's on the front! The 245/45s actually fit pretty OK on the 7.5" rear rims.

so 245? guess 255 would be pushing it...

where did you get your tires? That's exactly what I'm looking for V700.

Try posting in the racing and competition forum. I've heard of people fitting 265 and 275 slicks on stock AP1 rims.

With the VictoRacers, I definitely wouldn't go any bigger than 225/50 on the fronts, but wider tires than 245/45 would be a possibility in back, except that the next size up in the VR's is 265/45. Personally, I wouldn't go that far.

I guess it has been done, though!

I got my tires through a local shop. Paid ~$40 more than if I'd gone through the Tire Rack.

What size wheels are you running? Your sig shows some new rims that look like 17" or more.

If you are running 17"s, the quick guys at Nationals were running 245 front and 275 rear.

The fast drivers at Nats with 16" rims were running 225 front 265 rear.

that's my daily rims. I got my AP1 sitting at home with victoracers ready to go.

I just want to confirm before I buy it.

I would never run 17's, I don't see the benefit of it. Smaller the better... until I get some 4 piston calipers...

I read that other post. Looks like you could run 265/35/16 rears and 225/50 on the front?

did I get that right?

225/50-16 front, 265/45-16 rear.

From the negcamber's comments on this thread, and the linked thread in stphotographer's post, I wish I'd gotten the 265 rears as well!

Ah well...

For auto-x you can go to a 265 in the rear im sure. For Time attack/Road Racing you would not want to run that setup.

plokivos:

You can get the Wilwood 4-piston calipers. They fit behind the stock AP1 wheels. There is a group buy going on for them now. I have them and they are great, makes swapping pads a snap!
