Default Vortech: Oil leakage from hairline crack

I was at the famous green hell, the Nurburgring yesterday for a whole day of driver training when after 4 initial rounds around we drove to the parking place and my car was smoking from the right side through the bonnet and front wheel. We immediately drove on to blow it out with fresh air.

After opening the bonnet we identified lots of oil near the vtec solenoid which was being thrown down on the oil filter and suspension. After cleaning it up as good as I could I drove another slow round the ring to see if it stopped but it didn't.

A Honda mechanic at a dealer then found the problem later, that I had a hairline crack in the mounting plate between the engine and the vtec solenoid.

I upload a picture to show you where exactly it is (circled in red):

Did anybody have this problem before? I read about some cracks on a comptech and some broken bolts on the vortech but that's not exactly what happened to me. It seems that the vibrations of the superchargers where the cause of the hairline crack.

I emailed vortech support to hear if a new plate will fix it and how much it will cost. Not sure how long it's going to take to Germany, but I missed the whole ####ing days at the Nurburgring which I paid for, grrrrrr !!!!

Any comments?

Andreas

ok buddy, I had the same crack exactly on my unit. The oil was collecting on the plate under the motor. And im telling you it was cracked in the same exact spot. I couldnt figure it where it was coming from, but my mechanic did. I had to order a new vtec block from Vortech and the new one that came was a differnt metal. So far it has worked fine.

it's inevitable with the original bracket. it's just a matter of time until the original bracket has a crack. bought mine used and it had a hairline crack, exactly in the same spot as yours. luckily, a local shop that i specializes in s2000's, inspected everything prior to having the s/c running and was able to replace the bracket prior to the forced induction life.
