pch and hawaii honeymoon
Hey guys,
yes, I know there's a hawaii forum, but I thought I'd ask you guys too...
I'm heading to Hawaii early July for my honeymoon after a drive up the coast to SF. We're thinking Honolulu, Oahu for a few days to see Pearl Harbor et al, and then to the big island of Hawaii for about a week. We have a decent am't of hilton points, but was wondering if you guys have any recs - I've only been to Maui and she hasn't been at all.
We're into: hiking/waterfalls. We'd like to try surfing too, and definitely snorkeling.
Also any recs for the drive up PCH for hotels/restaurants are greatly appreciated too - thanks all!

If you go to Big island north of Kona Hilton Waikoloa village is great
but the lava rock gets old.... i was there 9 days
Oahu was nice waikiki (Sp?) is a tourist trap Hawaiin LA, North shore was nice to see a SS. Dole pinnapple tour was cood for icecream, War stuff was cool for the day...
Maui is my idea of sandy beaches, nice people, beach comminities
I had the Seabring convert the only way to go

Hilton Waikoloa village if you do big island
If you want to do Honeymoon in Hawaii, I vote Kauai. I just went there for mine 3 weeks ago. It also has some AWESOME hikes and waterfalls. The Hilton Kauai's close to the airport and has a decent location. Beach kinda sucks, but it's easy to drive to better beaches. Nice hotel, too.
Big island's ok, but not as scenic as Kauai. Oahu's fun, but doesn't have a relaxing honeymoon feel if that's what you want.

thanks chusi - that info really helps. I don't think we're big on Oahu other than the historical stuff, so we'll think about it. Kauai sounds good tho - we'll check it out!

For hiking, waterfalls, Kauai FTW.
I've been to Oafu, Maui, Kauai, and Molokai (no big island yet )
Maui is my favorite--hana hwy all the around (none of that come back
in the rental after you get to the 1/2-way point business). The black
sand beaches and various points along the way are great.
If you go to Kauai, you must go to Wailua!

Plenty of hiking to see waterfalls. I also highly recommend
a helicopter ride (just take dramamine or ginger tablets first!!).

Kauai FTW
I spent 3 months there for work (I know....rough duty).
Stay in Poipu, on the South side.
Drive up to Hanilai Bay for the day. Snorkle at Tunnels at the end of the road.
Hike the NaPali cliffs. Hike Waiama Canyon. Take a Helicopter tour. The beachs on the south side are awesome.
Watch the sunset at the Sheridan....Awesome....
Have fun!
If you have questions, PM me.

If you do Honolulu, stay at Waikoloa Village (a Hilton property) and swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Quest

Waikoloa also has a private beach....nice hotel
Stay away from Waikiki.....Just like Santa Monica
If you go to the Big Island....do the lava flows at night!
