No you won't lose your "tune". It is only effective in open loop anyway. Nothing to worry about.

Dumb question here: Can we spray the MAP sensor with brake cleaner?

but where exactly do we spray the cleaner?? into the plug? the sensor??

Did this tonight. I picked up CRC brand "Electronic Contact Cleaner" from Pepboys...$5.99. The hesitation on acceleration seems to be fixed, but the jury is still out since the problem was intermittent just like the service bulletin says.
FWIW, I did notice a pattern where the hesitation occurred:
1) If I started in 1st gear flooring it all the way to VTEC (~6200 RPM or whatever the norm is for our AP1), I had no problems with hesitation in 1st gear or shifting to 2nd, 3rd, etc. and letting VTEC engage or staying there. i.e. shifting in the 7K-9K range.
2) If I cruised first in 2nd or 3rd at low RPM (around 3-4K), then floored it getting to the point where VTEC should engage (again 6200), it wouldn't. Then somewhere between 6500-7000, the engine would hesitate. Almost like that feeling of missing a shift and my body getting thrown forward due to sudden loss of acceleration. Of course the immediate reaction is to let off on the gas.
I would say in the last couple of months, I had this problem happen about a half dozen times. I knew about this fix since the first time it happened maybe a year ago, but I don't drive the car often and I was just too lazy until tonight. All I have to say is "Thank you S2KI community!"....Awesome.

I used electrical contact cleaner on mine , plus I sprayed some down the small hole that goes to the manifold from the MAP sensor. It seemed to work perfectly, didn't need to worry about whacking it at all.

The "MAP WACK" was a kind of/sort of fix for engine hesitation at high rpm. Honda checked it out and released Service Bulletin 04-073, "Intermittent Hesitation During Hard Acceleration" back in 2004.

If it makes you feel good wack and spray away. I’ve not wacked or sprayed mine in years.

i tried the map whack and iac cleaning yesterday night. everything was fine after resetting the ecu but it came back after about 10 mins of driving. would i need to get the map sensor now? will this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-DENSO-M...sQ5fAccessories
