Lets see; install kit is $500 + $16 for ground shipping withing the US from Hard Top Guy + ~ $87 duties and taxes = $3603 for top and necessary parts.
A brand new top would be $2800, + ~$400 for shipping within the US. (From HTG, to Point Roberts) + ~ $544 duties and taxes (guesstimating on 5% duty, 5% GST 7% PST = $3744 for a new top
Hmm...Only slightly cheaper than a new one.

Well, given that he sold his car over 2 years ago, either he is selling a stolen top or he doesn't know the exchange rate is almost 1:1.
And I am serious about the stolen hardtop thing.

If it were stolen he'd probably be trying to get rid of it for cheaper than that, don't you think? I'm not saying it's not a possibility, but usually guys who steal stuff like this are try to get rid of it ASAP.
It sucks there is no way to lock a hard top down so its not so easily stolen.

I agree with you Rich, if this was a Miata. Unfortunately, S2000 hardtop are very rare and very expensive. It may be $2800 + shipping from HTG, but it is $4000+ from a local stealership and theives check with those theives first.
As for Miatas, I know a fellow autoX'er that sells stolen miata hardtops but since I cannot confirm this 100%, I will not say his name, but most miata guys know how I am talking about.
