Just a little confused. If I strip or shear a bolt i'll drill or tap it, flush the case and move on. Seems like sound advice if you can't fix what you've done though.

yeah,i think since this is a DIY, the advice was based on the face that most people won't have the tools sitting around in the garage to do that. I think for most people drilling and tapping/ rethreading holes would require another DIY.. myself included.

Great job! Thanks for the numbers on the washers. I went to my local Honda Dealership and they told me the oil drain plug washer was the same as both transmission gaskets. Glad I checked.
Has anybody used teflon tape on the threads along with a new gasket? Not the liquid stuff in a tube but the tape itself. I have used it on the oil drain bolt for years and never had a problem with it coming loose in the pan which would be my biggest concern. Just wanting to see you guys opinion on the matter.

Here is a thought for a bit extra oil in there:
When draining, raise the passenger side, that way the drain hole side is the lowest point of tranny's oilpan. Then when filling, raise the driver side, that way you can actually fit more fluid in there, thus increasing it's capacity for less changes, not throwing out the .4 qt left over, etc.
Is that feasible or am I full of it?
