Damok - Thats the one. I'll be putting in an order for the kit later this week, so if you want me to add one more rear kit to my order let me know before the weekend.

And to be honest if you get the rebuild kit you won't need new calipers you just need to clean your existing ones thoroughly

I could give it to you at the Dublin meet on 20/04.
DIYs done.
Rocker cover painted || Intake polished || brake calipers painted || brake calipers rebuilt || oil change || diff oil change || gearbox oil change || coolant change || 01-06 hood install || headlamp washers removed || alloys painted || 01-04 center console conversion || fuel filter changed || j's dual exhaust installed || berk high-flow cat installed || hondata intake gasket || brake discs replaced || brake pads replaced || gutted airbox || valve ajustment || looking to learn more

labour cost $0,

Damok,

Give us a bell later and I'll get you a number of a guy who has worked on several S2000 that I know of. He is apparently very good AND reasonable.

Will do Oisin. Not due a service until July but I wouldn't mind getting a few things looked at by someone who knows their way around.

I'll talk to you later...

Hi Dave,

That'd be great. Definitely going to be at the 20/04 meet so I can sort you out for it then. Hopefully you'll be able to cope without the 20quid or so til then! ;)

Give me an idea of when you're thinking of looking at your own calipers. Had given some thought to painting mine before so might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone by finding out how to get the things off properly!

Most likely I'll be doing them the weekend after next assuming my order from hardtopguy gets to me in time and the weather is ok

Your welcome to pop over and take a gander...

Dave

I'll be praying for bad weather that weekend then Dave! :D

I have to head down to Limerick for a birthday party thing that weekend. I'll keep in touch about it on here anyway. Would be handy to see it done rather than trying to piece together a how-to from posts on here.

Cheers for all the help btw. You sure you're ok with ordering the caliper kit btw? I have no problem doing it myself. Might cut down on postage if there's 2 of them coming at the same time though...

No - let me order it - the shipping for you will be more expensive than the part so you might as well group it with mine.

By the way you can get the part from Honda here. $18 in the US.

Small bit of a price difference there!

Cheers for getting them anyway. Will definitely sort you out at the meet. Looking forward to that actually. Fingers x'd for a bit of decent weather - for a change.

Need Help Tracking the wheels..

Does anybody know of a place in Dublin that I can get my wheels tracked. I hit a huge pot hole the other day and the car feels all skittish and pulls to the left like a bastard!
My problem is that my car is so low most places cant get the car ramp under the car. I need a place that has a very low ramp or one that is flush mounted to the floor.

I used advance pitstop in Loughlinstown. They have 4 wheel laser alignment and a flush ramp for the S and the bloke doing didn't mind me looking around under the car as he worked away.

Only thing is that 3 of my adjusting bolts were corroded and could not be adjusted. Luckily they were all within tolerance.

Hey gang,
Newbie here and dont even own an S2000 yet, but Im mad to get one. Just one Issue, Im trying to find someone in Ireland for insurance!! My company at the moment wont quote it cause its a performance model. Does anyone have any ideas??

@ moderator: if you feel this post is in the wrong place then tear away at moving it but i figured that as this is a uniquely Irish issue so it kinda fits.

Cheers to all!

I'm with Britton Insurance and they're reasonable as long as you're willing to take a gamble that you won't stack it. Excess is pretty large for claims but it's probably the cheapest way to get insured on an S first up.

The guys on Octane.ie seem to think that the new Vrt changes are now only going to apply to cars built after July 2008 and the old system will still apply to cars built prior to July 08 because the motor industry were afraid that the country would get swamped with 1 year old diesel cars. Does anyone know what's really going to happen?

There was something in the Sunday Business Post yesterday and it looks like the new tax & VRT rates will apply to all vehicles registered in the state on or after the 1st of july.I dont think it has anything to do with when they were built, only registered.

If thats the case then a 07 diesel car imported after July is going to be a savage amount cheaper to road tax and VRT than a second hand Irish car, whats going to happen with all the cars here?

I think it will actually be the other way around..
Anything registered or re-registered on or after the 1st of July will be subject to the new tax rates..
Hence an imported 07 diesel from wherever will be more expensive to tax than an equivalent Irish car..
