50cc Bike? Street Legal in Cali?
well i thought it would be fun to have a little commuter bike or what not to travel around the city (no freeways).
i think the legal limit is 50cc (so you dont have to get a M license and insurance?)
anyone know where they sell Street Legal 50cc bikes?
ie. the Aprilia RS50 which im not sure if they sell here...
anywho ideas are welcomes and advice. (even if its "your SOL") least ill know.

Yamaha makes a couple 50cc bikes. Call Jesse Kovach at Del Amo Motorsports. Tell him Scott sent you. The zuma and c3 are 49cc and can be had for less than 2k new. they might have some used units as well. Monday and Tuesday are his days off so if you really need to talk to him PM me and i can have him call you or give you his cell.

Zuma-nation ftw! lol
Honestly, very dangerous man. I'd buy one used if I was to buy one. There's no reason to buy new. We sold em from our dealership, idk. I'd be too concerned with safety myself, hard to escape danger with 50cc. Easy to avoid tickets though!!!

I used to have an RS50... loved that thing! I rode it around for a couple of months until I stepped up to a 600. In the state of California you MUST have a permit/M1 and insurance to ride any street bike, regardless of displacement (RS50 included).

as i recall the law for DMV california is 50cc is illeagal but 49cc is ok...
thats why the Honda Ruckus is 49cc.... and it needs to be DOT approved.
it needs its own veh. registration and all. along with working headlights blinkers brake lights and licn plate.

lol I saw what looked like a 50cc traveling on the 91W to the 241 south. He started going up the big hill and tried to get over to the towing lane. He looked like the frog in frogger trying to cross those 3 lanes. I was dying!

50 cc aint allowed on the freeway.. i believe the minimum is 250cc... But anything less than 600cc on the freeway is stupid...
you only need 65-70 mph for freeways, and if its traffic you will be mostly be inbetween lanes doing about 50mph on the safe side.
