Went to a local auto store "Advanced auto parts" but they didnt have the correct size. I tried looking online but couldn't find it either. Anyone know of any places I might be able to find it locally or on the internet.

I went to 3 other autopart stores and all they seem to have is 14mm by 1.25.

Ill try sears out tomorrow. If not I'll just have to order it online.

Sorry, i was thinking of a tap and die set But yea a local hardware store should have it.

Just to clarify, this should be the correct size on our oil pan if the thread is stripped?

14x1.5 is the original drain plug's size.

If the pan is stripped too badly a tap isn't going to fix it.

Well went to a ace hardware which carried the taps. They advised me that I should go with the next higher size since the pan was stripped. They said a 9/16 tap with the correct plug would be sufficient since its slightly larger than 14mm. I belive its around 14.5 mm

Does this sould right. I felt it makes sene since if the oem size is 14mm x 1.5, why would you tap the same size.

Also, this is for a pt cruiser with a aluminum pan. Are there any precautions I should take to prevent it from potentially cracking. The 9/16 is barely bigger so it shouldn't cause an issue but I wasn't sure. Ive read that they sell an oversize drain plug which taps itself as its threaded. Could this be another option?
