Default Rotors

How do I know when they are toast? Is the only way to measure? Is there any rule of thumb to get a guesstimate?

Measuring seems like the only true way to do it. Of course, if you see cracks or warping, they're toast.

Thanks, yes I am being very cautious not trying to run them into the ground or anything. I guess I should just buy the measuring device.
