Berk Tech Test Pipe Good or Bad
Hey guys I am new the forum and a 3 day old AP2 owner, some guy is selling a berk tech test pipe brand new with hard ware for 65 which is more than 50% off the retail, however on the site they say it's highly likely CELs will pop for the 06-08 due to drive by wire. Any opinions, experiences, any info please let me know thanks. Also is the 7hp average gain a myth and sand storm sound true?

I also heard with the 06 and u theres a good chance of a cell. a lot of people like berk good quality stuff, to me a test pipe is a test pipe. id say 5 hp is possible since the cat is the most restrictive part on the exhaust. I doubt its going to be a gain you'll feel though, I havent felt a difference with my bolt ons.

I am running a berk test pipe on my AP1. Great quality product.
For that price I would purcahse it- I paid $80 for mine.
I am not sure about drive by wire causing a CEL. My buddy has a T1R test pipe on his 06. Like me, he has a T1R "CEL fix" which makes a chamber that tricks the O2 sensor. You can also achieve this by stacking two spark plug anti-foulers and drilling them out for the sensor to fit.
And running no cat on the road is a personal preference. I guess it depends on emission laws and your ethics on carbon in the atmosphere. But for the record, I have only put about 1500 miles on my car this year.
Good luck.

MY01, With Berk TP and Invida dual....Running with the TP since March, no cel's no problems. The car seems to have a little more oomph to it, but not all that much. It got louder(i know, knock the invidia guy, but yes it is possible for an invidia to get louder lol!) and a little more high pitched once it hits the Vtec crossover. Although on berk's website it mentioned the TP i bought as the redesigned one, since i think it has a longer bung for the O2 sensor. Double check which one it is your buying!

DBW models do have a higher percentage of triggering a CEL, but all S2000s are capable of throwing a CEL with the testpipe, even with the fix. However, this number is relatively low. If you do buy it, and happen to throw a CEL you can always buy an anti-fouler to possibly get rid of it. Just be aware of the con's of the test pipe. Some feel it smells bad, or gets soot on their bumper (which I have never experienced on my white car).
