Default Hey all.

Hi guys, been lurking a lot and just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm Ian, an 18 y/o college freshman and am pretty tired of my Automatic Scion tC and its huge payments :[

Not really sure if im ready to own my dream car lol. Monthly payments might be a lot less but insurance...

So begins the questions!

I have these two S2k's in mind

This one is not really the color i would like but the price for the amount of miles on it seems like a really good deal..even if the interior is a bit too blue.

Or This one, love the color, but 80,000 miles seems a bit steep.

Also another question :[ I still owe quite a bit on my car, how exactly do trade ins work in order for me to get less monthly payments out of it?

Sorry for all the questions guys.

The Suzuka Blue car looks like a hell of a deal and is one of the more rare colors. Also, red cars are generally more expensive to insure.

BTW...s2ks are not the most forgiving cars for inexperienced drivers and especially the cars made from 00-03 compared to the cars from 04 on. If you've been racing karts for a few years, then you might be safe. Otherwise, if you get your dream car, participate in some autocrosses in your area to learn the limits of the car and your capability. Go to scca.org and look for "Solo" events in a region near you.

wow didn't know color affects insurance prices.

If i ever get around to getting one i will undoubtedly try out autox.

The blue seems more feminine to me though (no offense to anyone on here that has one). But with that little miles at that price...

I would almost bet something is up with that blue one, like salvage title, because for the mileage that is a steal

S2000 is going to require tire replacements more often and cost more so take that into account as well.

:[ yeah my interest has shifted to an RSX-S or something like it.

My dream car might have to wait when im older. The insurance cost of the s2k is immense ive heard. Is the RSX-S any better when it comes to insurance cost?

I don't know about for an 18 yr old (I am 27), but my insurance is not much more than with my EM2 civic. The civic had a modification option that cost an extra $60 per half, because it was Kswapped (just so I would get what I had into it in the event of an accident), other than that it was insured as a stock 04 civic. The S2k bumped my rates up $150 per half (a total increase of $210 per half if you take into account that I did not need the modification option anymore).

Very true! I witnessed this first hand when a guy I knew who cant really drive at all ended up wrapping his s2000 around a tree and spun out many times prior to the final blow (to the car not him)

Def do an autocross if you plan on driving it spirited every now and then.
