I'm definitely down for some riding. This weekend is shot, but maybe we could all do a ride the weekend after this. If people are interested in hitting up some of the roads by my house i have a 50 mile route that has about 5k feet of climbing. If distance is an issue we could move further towards the city.

 I'de be down for a long ride next saturday, need to get used to the new wheel setup so the more miles i can get in the better. I plan on 100 or so this coming Saturday, and maybe a little on Sunday.

Looks to me like that Lance is being a team player in assisting Contador on the hills.

He's definitely holding it up there with the best of them... he is just one beastly machine.

I think you're underestimating Mr. Armstrong. He was pretty much leading the peleton the whole way with his teammates and he matched all attacks other than Contador's cause you should never respond to an attack by a teammate.

The team seems to be pretty split up right now cause of that move cause the team manager didn't approve of it.

We'll see what happens.

I'm going to see if I can setup a ride of all of us next weekend... cool?... just giving a very early heads up.

did a bunch of cycling while up in boston. Lots of fun weaving through traffic and hitting some of the hills out past BC. Definitely got nostalgic for my old haunts.

Also got to do some riding through the catskills. Some beautiful sights but the hills were intense

That must have been a long, long ride... lol.

I would love to do at least a century one day. The most I ever did in one ride was 65 miles.

Cyclometer... it's a wireless or wired computer that sits on your handle bars which receives signals from a sensor that is hooked onto your front fork and a magnet to one of your spokes. Depending on how fast the magnet passes the sensor, it knows how far you've traveled and how fast you're going.

And they are very accurate too.

What kind of bikes do you guys reccomend???

I'm looking to get a bike basically for exercise and go to places near by. But not sure if i should get a mountain bike or a road bike, since i want to also go on some bike trails.

You gave yourself the answer... get a mountain bike for this reason since no other bikes can handle an off-road trail.

Not sure what kind of cash you're looking to spend, but I would look into Cannondale and Specialized.

Also, not sure how serious you are about off-roading the bike or how many times you plan on going, but if you know you won't be doing much off-road, I would stick with a hardtail bike and front suspension only. Having rear suspension on the road is the worse cause you lose a lot of energy from the rear spring from pedaling and you will get tired.

Thanks man.

you might also want to consider a hybrid. basically its got thicker tires than a road bike, but not as big as a mountain bike. It does neither as well, but you can do both better than the other can do its opposite.

nice to see some cyclist on the forum. I was a big mountain biker years back and used to hit Lake Minnewaska state preserve right outside of new paltz and stillwell/greenbelt in Long Island.

My ride is a Specialized Epic dual suspension with Brain Technolology. LOVE IT!!

Never had a chance to experience that suspension, but from what I hear, it really is an amazing thing.

Do you have a road bike?

The brain technology is the best. I started off with a hard tail than switched to a full suspension but hated the fact that part of my pedaling force was being absorbed by the rear shock and not into the wheels which was especially noticable on climbs. I test road the Epic in the off season and put that sucker on lay-away. It cost me 1850 .. people thought I was crazy for paying that much for a bike but ITS SOOOOOOO WORTH IT and really not that expensive if you are really into mountain biking.

I am thinking of picking up a road bike but... I lost touch with the cycling world ever since I had to hold down 3 jobs a few years back and all my ridding buddies got married or lazy. Now that I am down to one job I think I can make it happen soon.

Make it happen man... you got a few people on here, including myself, that you can ride with.

I've been doing small rides here and there during the week (only about 23 - 25 miles), but I've been too busy to do anymore than that, which kind of stinks.

This picture left me thinking a little bit... how is it riding this bike when it is windy out... especially a side wind.

Hard to control?

Not too bad, you only feed the crosswind if is above 25 mph. I rode 100 miles on that setup along the hudson to practice side wind control without any issues. If I were a little lighter I would be worried but even at a decent cross wind I don't feel it that bad.
