I don't think this is a re-post (sorry if it is), but it's definitely been commented on at some length one way or another in other threads, so apologies for dragging it out again......

Could any UK owners with BC Racing coilovers comment on what spring rates they chose and what the pros and cons were?

I've read the comments from the US and they seem to think that the std 12/10kg rates that BC's come with are fine, but from what I can gather, they might be a bit hard for UK roads.

I'm not planning to use my car on track for the forseeable future, so I want the bias towards A & B road use, but I want it stiffer than the std my05 set-up.

Any help very welcome.

Cheers,
Confusedbloke :ponder:

They would def be quite a hard set up for just road use...IIRC the standard is around 5ish, so you would want around 10/8(ish) :D

I have 10/10 and its pretty hard but bearable.
I think you would prefer something more complient?

Renault and Ford are working on a new small car for women.
Its a combo car --
Theyre starting with the Renault "Clio".
Then adding luxury features from the Ford "Taurus".
The result will be sold as the "Clitaurus".
It only comes in pink.
The main benefit of the new hybrid: the average car thief wont be able to find it, even if someone tells him exactly where it is.

Well, the H&R's that I did have, IMHO, proved the best comp[romise of resistance and compliance.

They had 6.3kg/mm springs.

I like an agressive setup which is why I have the 10/10kg/mm on the Teins

7kg/mm would be perfect for what I think you are after :)

Rather than starting a new thread thought it best to revive this one :)

I am hopefully planning to purchase coilovers, likely BC Racing, in next month.
My car is used daily covering both A & B roads so ideally do not want anything too harsh/stiff.

Regarding the spring rates, would you guys recommend higher spring rate at the rear (10kg Rear / 8kg Front) or a even rate all round (10kg/10kg) ?

Fatbloke - What did you choose in the end ?

I have BC Racing coilovers and with the adjustable damping I don't see any difference between those and the MeisterR ones I had on my old S. I don't know what the BC spring rates are as they were on the car when I bought it but I would presume they're whatever is set as standard.
Floppy - but not where it counts!

According to the bible that is the Urban Dictionary!
FLOPPY
"When one cannot get hard when a girl is trying to give said man a blowjob.
When Taylor got on her knees, she noticed Ben was still floppy."
SPIKEY
"Like the term horny, when you feel the urge to have sex really badly. Spikey is derived from the sharp pointy horns of a devil.
I started kissing my girlfriend Michelle all over her body and we both got extremely spikey."
I don't like change, I'm still calling you Spykee or Spike for short :)

I believe they come 10/10kg as standard.

I see some people have opted for higher spring rate at rear, i.e. 12kg with 10kg front. What is the benefit of having stiffer spring at rear?

At the moment I am thinking 10kg Rear and 8kg front simply as car is used daily. Anyone with this setup, opinions appreciated.

Thats the MeisterR standard spring rate settings, seemed good for daily use with the damping set to 15/30 clicks.

Thanks for the info on the BC spring rates, I thought that was the case but didn't like to say as I was unsure
