It's a chain so doesn't need replacing, theoretically, for the life of the engine. The timing chain tensioner can wear though, but is a 10min job to replace. The part is expensive from Honda, but you can get them elsewhere for

Only has an auxillary belt - timing is done with a chain.

In theory chain is never changed and tension is maintained with the timing chain tensioner. It is common for the tensioner to require changing, indicated by a rattling noise.

In high milage cars changing the timing change tensioner does not always cure the problem, either has no effect of only works for a reduced period.

Honda have claimed this is due to too much elongation of the chain, and replacing the chain is a longer job.

Very few opt for replacing the chain though.

So, when buying, listen for the rattle, but if you are not used to the sound of the engine, than it may be difficult to hear whats not normal - the engine is quite tappy anyway.
