cost of ownership BMW 335i vs Infiniti G37
how do they differ in cost of ownership once you drive them off the lot? BMW 335i steptronic vs. Infiniti G37 auto, both RWD. curious if Infiniti is much cheaper to maintain compared to the Bimmer. For example, how much does a typical oil change and a 30,000 mile service cost on either at the dealer?

As far as the cost of service afteryour four years of free maintenance on the 335... It was almost identical for me. (I've owed a G35 and a E46 3-Series).
Buying new? How long do you intend to keep the car?

That seems highly unlikely given 4 years of maintenance and warranty on the 335...

Actually here is what it includes:
"The Edmunds Inc. True Cost to OwnSM (TCO) pricing system calculates the additional costs you may not have included when considering your next vehicle purchase. These extra costs include: depreciation, interest on your loan, taxes and fees, insurance premiums, fuel costs, maintenance, and repairs."
The biggest numbers on that list are probably depreciation and fuel costs.
So for depreciation most people used KBB numbers. The G37 and 335 get similar percentage losses over 5 years, but since the 335i starts at 10k more, the absolute number comes out about 6K in favor of the G37. This is where the bulk of the ownership cost number comes from.

The next biggest chunk (way distant second) comes from fuel costs. They are just going by EPA numbers here. The G37 gets 19/27 to the BMW's 17/26.
Other things like insurance, financing, maintenance are probably minor players that don't really change the final result. I'm guessing financing will be in favor of Infinti, maintenance in favor of BMW, and insurance is anyone's guess.
