all you buy is tires and gas for the most part
Overall I'm a big fan of the BMW CPO. 0.9% for 60 months right now.

During my first year of M3 ownership, total maint. cost has been around $140 for an unscheduled oil change (I'm halving BMW's recommendations). BMW changed my front pads for free during that time, which is the only other work that's been done on it.
The only major costs have been gas and insurance!

chipping a N54 powerplant isn't as easy as it looks... you also have to buy a 600$~ scanner to delete the hidden codes so the dealership can continue to service your car for the 4 year 50k period without hassling you.
I think over all from the performance factor covered in and the 4 year Maintenance (not including clutch and tires) the 335i is a better buy... I've driven the G37 in both sedan and coupe form... It was brought onto the market to compete with someone that has been setting the benchmark for the past 18-19 years (not going to include the E30 series which was a whole another ball park)... If the Warranty wasn't included, it would be a different story.

And brakes. I have to put brakes on our CPO 325i tomorrow. They were surprisingly cheap though - $250 for discs and pads on all four corners.
