the ipad is fairly large not sure how you would mount it to sit flush on the dash

At a guess I'd say a lot like they do in the video.

But with the curve of the dash it would end up having to be mounted very deep into the dash.

Given that the iPad can only do one thing at once I would not be rushing to do this!

He he, just wait for the announcement tonight.

Anyway, on the iPhone you can listen to music whilst running the navigation software. What else do you need to do in car? Oh, take calls. You can do that too.

Apple are announcing something on April 8 in the US so we'll hear it in the morning.

Rumours are it's iPhone/iPad OS4 with multitasking.

I'm similar about Microsoft and <insert lousy product name here>.

But I do miss blue screens of death. I hear that Vista was really good at them. And they just don't write any decent viruses for Macs.

The video clearly demonstrates the IQ of car audio installers. Apple spent $$$ to make the thing portable and they fix it into a car lol

The idea is good but it would be better if the ipad is detachable from the dash to retain the portability.

I am going to try the IPAD for work but as far putting one in the car I am not so sure. I use the Iphone on a cradle and the reflexion is maddening and if the sun is reflectling on my shirt it is downright difficult to see. Yes, there are "anti glare" stick (I haven't tried them) and there will probably come up with one for the Ipad.

I think the size of the IPAD would be good for GPS navigation though.

I would prefer to put a Mac Mini in the car rather then an iPad. Come to think of it, I have on old G4 Mac Mini sitting here doing nothing, hmmm ...

Only problem with a Mac Mini (and I have a spare Intel one) is a lack of decent nav software.

Is this an update to existing software or will you need to spend another 1k for a new iphone with this function?
