I know there is a thread in the FAQ's and DIY write up but I'm not getting much of a response and the pictures won't show up (old thread).

I have a replacement PCV valve ready to go for my 05 AP2 but am having trouble removing the current valve. It has almost no clearance to get any type of wrench in and my sockets won't fit as the valve sticks out too far.

Any idea on how to remove it? The only thing I can think of is to remove the cover (not the valve cover, but the 'red' portion of the cover protecting the cylinders) or to get a set of deep sockets. I also thought about stopping by Honda and asking them to loan me a tool or let a technician quickly remove the old for me and then tighten the new one (but I'm sure they would love to charge me a little fee).

Any help would be appreciated. If I need to post up a picture, let me know.

You need a deep well socket. Time for tool shopping

yup, I used a deep socket, and torqued the new one to 8 ft lbs on installation, it worked well for me. You can buy just one deep socket, if you don't want to buy a whole set, but it helps to have a set if you intend on wrenching on the cars in the future.

How have you guys gone about ordering the AP2 PCV valve? I've looked on Majestic Honda's site, and I can't seem to find it in their illustrated parts breakdown.

Deep well socket worked like a charm. I bought a 9 piece set for future projects. All in all, actual labor took less than a minute!

Old PCV valve was nearly black. I got mine from my local Honda dealer for $19 and change.

Thanks for the help! Next project will be changing out the spark plugs!
