soo, u sayin that the noise i have is NOT a tct??? =[ what can it be!

Your valves are WACK. if you cant adjust em right i suggest you have someone do it that can. They should make ZERO noise. when i do them the injectors are louder than the valves. LOL.

i just called honda since my car is still under the full driveline/powertrain warranty about mine making a slight rattling noise on warm start ups..

they told me if its a failed part or faulty part then after they diagnose the problem that it can/will be repaired under warranty..

i always thought it was my exhaust rattling because it wasn't tight enough or something..

That noise didn't start until around 110k miles on mine, it lasted really long for me. But then again I hardly drive it like I stole it I drive it normally so maybe thats why???? Regardless THANK YOU for this write up and now I know what to do and as soon as I get my school money, Im going to pm Billman for a part. How long does it take to get the part, is it in back order or in stock? :hello:

I have yet to hear any TCT noise, even at 40 seconds in that one vid.

Here's another sound clip. Very distinct:
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=NwFVZADoyx0

my car is making a ticking sound just like a card in spokes but in my case it seems to be most apparent at 2k-4k rpm's and its a rapid tick but no where near as bad as these vids. I was driving it today and while under a load it seems to disipate and then when I am off load it seems to be more aparent...im wondering if it is the valves or timing chain, the car burns Zero oil and gets normal Mpg as well. I havnt had the valves done since i bought a used working engine....im going to tho asap and im gna do the timing chain sand blast as well. I guess my question is, can the timing chain be going bad but no where near as loud as these vids? all the vids i see seem to be a clear 100% bad TCT but in my case i think mine is still workn just not at 100%

I suggest you NOT sandblast anything. that practice should be killed right now, pure stupidity.
Either, buy a new TCT and make sure your running conventional oil. Or have bill mod you a TCT, or me mod you a TCT. whichever you feel most comfy with, or whichever one is cheaper to ship to from where you are, LOL.

I sandblasted mine and the sound has gone away for over 5 months now so how is the sandblast concept pure stupidity?

You do not need a screw you need a bolt to compress the piston. Take a picture and circle what you are trying to screw the bolt into.

They keep the bolts in drawers, not hanging on the wall - are you sure you checked everywhere? Fwiw I got my bolt at Home Depot.

This "fix" has been around for five years now and no one has come back with a problem.

Just swapped mine out with Billman's modifed TCT and it fixed everything perfectly, the ticking noise was very loud under hot summer conditions and lots of driving, now, even in warm weather and extended driving, no issue exists. Hope this fix lasts long!

i dont know what other peoples experiences are when they remove the TCT unit, but i needed a set of o-rings (3 in total; 2x round, and the triangular on on the end cap) as they were well best their best.
£10 in total (c.$15 USD).
fo rme, that would be an essential purchase and worth adding into the guide!

I wouldn't use a Dremel - too much chance of making the threads uneven or gouging. It needs to operate smoothly but not be highly polished.

There are many sand blast guns available - search online.
I found one at harbor freight for only $10
http://www.harborfreight.com/abrasive-blas...-bag-96972.html
I don't know anything about it but you can't go far wrong for $10 if it is not going to be used very much.
I used to have a Craftsman that had an aluminum tank as well as a 3-gallon hopper. It also had ceramic tips so the sand didn't wear them out so fast. But I think it was about $80.

Amazing how when two s2k repair giants come into the thread and both say they DO NOT sand blast and yet people are still trying to figure out ways to sandblast or sand on the poor worm gear.

Well, one of the "giants" was the original source of the idea. When I sandblasted my worm gear, I did so at the advice of Billman250.

I've posted my thanks to him for that a couple of times, since it worked perfectly and cost me nothing but thirty minutes work.

I just got done sand blasting my TCT today. Well my issue was this.

if i did not start my car for (2) days or more, just on start up i could hear the chain. Also, I think i may have heard it @ 5000 RPMS, not 100% sure, but it sounded weird, anyhow, I had my motor not running for almost two months, got a new oil pan I put on and stuff, and Is tarted the motor up, I did make the noise, but it went away fast like ti always does.

I will see in a few days upon start up if it creates this noise again! I am going to tail of the dragon and I want to make sure I have everything in order.
Looking for yet another S2k

My advice is to cough up the funds and leave it to the pros on the car. I got my TCT part from BILLMAN and installed it in less than an hour. Sent him my core part and had a great transaction process with the guy. My best bet is to settle for that he had a good part for me and had no problems
