Its braced via the downpipe on the engine block.

All the weight of that turbo and manifold braced by a v-band downpipe? That is a lot of weight and vibration to be supported by just a downpipe.

The reason manifolds crack is because of the extreme leverage placed on the turbo by the downpipe. If you look in this picture you will see that if you push down on the flex section on the downpipe you can imagine the amount of leverage this has on the manifold. This is compounded by downpipes that are not braced to the block and even worse when they are hitting on something, and even-even worse when you have a bad motor mount.

The turbo is not that heavy for this manifold. It is made of schedule 40 and back purged and with a root pass.

The sch40 wall thickness is .145 wall thickness. A nhra legal roll cage is .090 wall thickness. If you hooked a crane on the manifold and pulled it would rip the motor out of the car before the manifold broke.
