Question need help with defrost wiring for ap1 hardtop

HEY there i own a 2000 NFR S2000 ap1, so i recently picked up a oem nfr hardtop. i had zero trouble installing it.

so when i installed the hardtop, it came with a sub wire with three plugs.... when installing that wire it plug straight up to my main harness. and then after installing the hardtop, i plug the wire that comes from the hardtop into that subwire that plugs into my main wire.....

my question is what else do i need to make it defrost? is it just the defrost switch? and where does it go?

im assuming it goes right behind the cup holder on a ap1, its where the change holder would be right?

1. a defrost switch part # 35500-S2A-Q02
2. a switch holder with two slots that replaces the change holder

and last question is does that switch holder with two slots have a cap? i know ima use 1 for the defrost button. but the other 1 is empty, is there a cap for this?

i just got back from honda of renton and they werent any much of help lol. but he did give me a part # on what i think might be that switch. they didnt know if there is a cap for that switch holder too.

any help or more solid info would be much appreciated. THANKS!!!!

i thought the defrost switch goes in the slot behind the steering wheel on the right side? just like how the cruise control button is on the left side.

i think theres a rubber slot on the drivers side where theres a hole by the striker in which the button sticks through. I may be wrong though. i didnt bother installing the defroster when i had an ap1 so i gave up on the wiring.

ok so i figured it out....

ap1's 2000-2001 parts needed to install a defroster on oem hardtop ( with a vin higher then 5730 )

parts list:

switch holder with 2 slots ( replaces the coin holder behind the cup holder )
switch cap ( for the extra hole to be plugged up n look cleaner )
defroster switch
defroster switch relay
defroster sub wire harness ( the wire that the oem hardtop plugs into / plugs into the main harness )

hope this helps some of you with an AP1 in the PNW for future reference's

install should be pretty easy:
1. open the caps on the 2 hooks behind the driver side seat.
2. unscrew the screws holding in the 2 hooks.
3. unsnap that same back panel. should come rite out.
4. unsnap the door sill on driver side.
5. unbolt the 1 bolt holding in the trim where the catchers of the hard top go. (10mm)
6. plug in the defroster sub wire in the same trim piece where the extra hole is.
7. plug in the defroster sub wire in to the main harness. ( 2 plugs out of 3 )
8. snap back in all the trim piece's back in reverse order. and dont forget about the 1 bolt too.
9. screw back in the 2 screws that holds the 2 hooks.
10. plug in the the wire from hardtop to the defroster sub wire. (the last plug)
11. plug the defroster switch relay in under the dash where all the fuse's are. ( far left)
12. rip out center console and unplug the hazard and the roof top switch.
13. unscrew the 1 screw holding the change holder to the center console.
14. replace it with the new 2 slot switch holder n put the screw back in.
15. plug the defroster switch in.
16. plug the extra switch cap in for that extra hole u have.
17. plug in the the extra wire that has a blue tip into the switch. ( should be taped to the side by E-brake )
18. plug back in the roof and hazard switch.
19. snap back in the center console and your all done!
20. test out the switch n YOUR WELCOME lol =)

for ap1's with a vin under 5730.... you have to get the extra parts from hardtopguy.com because the early ap1's didnt have the extra blue wire already taped to the side inside the center console. ( it doesnt have the main wire that the defroster subwire plugs into)
