I just got a compression test at REN Motorsports in San Mateo:
2002 AP1 w/ 50k miles (test-driving today)... 15 ft above sea level.

#1: 175
#2: 150
#3: 175
#4: 165

Are those good? Bad?? I'm worried they aren't close to the 240s? But they look consistent.

What do you think?

yeah they look a bit low...a brand new motor might get 240s...most AP1s I've seen though are at least 200+

i wouldnt buy it lol

the guy who owns it probley knows this too and wants to get rid of it

Will do. I knew off the top of my head the range was above 200,
but the mechanic there said it looked OK since it was consistent,
and my Honda dealer mechanic said the same thing--not to worry about it.

Now I'm worrying about it and will probably walk away I guess.

you know how there are some factory beasts that come with actually like 220-230 to the wheel?
maybe this is a factory whimp that comes with like 160 or 170hp haha xD

but compression test dosent mean hp but it does mean healthy engine lol

It can read low depending on the gauge or if done when cold and not WOT.
Having said that there should not be 25 psi difference between cylinders. That is the biggest thing to look for when doing a compression and leakdown test.
Cylinder 2 is very low there. Don't buy that car unless it is super cheap and have intentions of putting new engine in there possibly.

I plan on buying a s2k first week in feb, i plan on having the dealer do.a compression test before i buy. I wanted to know doesnt elevation effect the results too?

Constancy is key when doing a compression test.

However those numbers do sound low though. 170ish seems to be the number that most 3mm head gaskets give you.

Looks number 2 might be potentially hurt.
