Default Help removing soft top

So I have all the interior panels off. The rear tray is out along with all the other plastics the soft top rests on. I have removed the metal strips around the base so the fabric is now free from the car. Do I have to remove the bulk head? What is the next step in removing the main connection of the soft top frame on the side of the car. In the car now so quick answers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

you dont need to remove the frame. There is actually a very good write up on how to replace the top on here. But you need to remove the weather stripping and then remove the metal pieces underneath the weather stripping. then you will have to drill out the rivets underneath those metal pieces. then unscrew the metal plate at the front of the top and work your way back

heres a link to that write up:

I dont think you understand i am removing the entire convertable top assembly. I do not need to drill out rivets you are refering to replacing the fabric on the assembly. I want it out. That DIY has been useful to get the interior pieces out but does not state anything about removing the actual convertable top frame. Thanks for trying!

Okay so i am taking this thing out finally and realized i still need to remove the frame from this plate because this plate needs to go back in, in order for me to bolt on the hard top. Do i take these 2 allen head bolts out? They are really in there...

It looks like u can buy these two plates without the convertable frame attached but its $65 bucks a side! That's just crazy. Has anyone successfully removed these two allen head bolts?

You can take the frame off those plates. But you will probably need to dremel shave some off to fit it with the hardtop. Um I have a pic of my plates... PM me your email if interested to see
