lol nobody charges $10 a wheel.

wait, where are you located? i was under the impression that you were in queens or li since you mentioned going to bill for tires. if you're in nj, then go to my buddy john's shop. if you're in li or queens, then it makes no sense to travel to nj.

Bill quoted me $12.50 a wheel because my wheels are new and tires are new there is no dismounting involved.

12.50 is cheap, but tolls and gas are about $40 per car. hit up my buddy john if you're interested. its $25 per tire.

Do they charge anything more after that, like taxes or disposing old tires?
Is it any less if there is no dismounting of old tires, just loose wheels and old tires?

ray, it's probably not any cheaper because removing a tire is fast and easy. most of the work is in mounting and balancing.

in terms of disposal and taxes, i think if you pay him cash he wont charge you tax. im not sure about tire disposal. i take my tires home with me. my town dump charges $1 and most shops charge $4. there are a few local shops with piles of tires on the side/back of them and they wouldnt notice an extra 2 tires being tossed on the pile.

im going on monday, so ill ask him about tire disposal fees.

i went yesterday to have my tires done and that machine is pretty damn cool. it does everything for you with the touch of a few buttons.

john told me that a lotus owner came to the shop after he saw this thread. it was a black elise. anyone know who it was?

there's no disposal fees as far as i know. no charge for valve stems either. im not sure about the whole if the tire isnt on the rim thing, but i dont think it makes a difference.

you just want to take off a tire? not put a new one on? probably $5 or so. you really need to call and ask. i dont know the prices for all of these specific things. just regular mounting and balancing is $25 per rim. that is all i know.
