Just wondering if anyone is familiar with some of the Volvo's. I am looking to pick an AWD one up possibly for this winter and just to have in general. Seen some really good deals on some 2002-2006 ones locally. I am looking for either the S60 or the S80 most likely. And would definitely be the AWD ones. Turbo model would be nice as well.
Anyone know how these are off hand? Any big flaws or issues or anything?
Seems like Volvo's last forever but is that just the older ones possibly?
Any input would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the later models, but there was a point where Volvo was partially owned by Ford, and most of the parts were the same found on the focus/taurus. So I can't imagine them lasting forever. With that said, I do see a lot of the older "box" volvos from the '90s and '80s that are still on the road today.
From my personal experience, if you want reliability Honda is hard to beat...

Well Honda doesn't make any nice awd cars so no options there. Those older ones seem to be super reliable but hate how they look and too old so don't think I want one of them.

My mother had a volvo S80 and the thing drove like a tank. It was bought new 2006 or 2007. It was an okay car for the first two years then she started having issues. First major issue was electrical, second was trany (automatic). Both were fixed, but something just didn't feel right about it. At strange times it would bog when driving. She wasn't too happy and ended up trading it in for an Acura TL (Volvo owned for 4 years). This is coming from someone who typically keeps their cars for 6-8 years. If you're looking for an awd winter car, I'd consider some form of Subaru.

Yeah been looking at the Subaru's but the ones I would want would be around 10 grand and don't feel like spending that much really. I would have to stay away from WRX as I would want to mod it right away and would be another money pit lol. Feel like I would leave a Volvo stock so would save money that way haha.

Thank Barry, I'm still here =)
please feel free to pm me with any questions. If you had a specific volvo in mind I can tell you what the common things to look for are. You should definitely take a volvo in for a ppi with a reputable volvo specialist or the dealer. If you find one in NNJ and they don't mind driving it to montclair I can take a look at it for you.
