Well had a great weekend. The Wifey treated the S badly Saturday.

While backing out the driveway in her Explorer... well you can see the rest.

Insurance will cover it, but where's a good body shop to go to?

I think its in the Uni-body section which means they'll prob have to pull it out best the can and bondo.

Just really sucks!!!

OK, here's who I went with:

Posted Image

http://maps.google.c...F-8&sa=N&tab=il

Estimated Completion date was Oct. 20th,
Received a call on Thursday the 20th stating car was ready for pickup. I took off of work 2 hrs early to pickup (they close at 5:00 pm).

Here are the things I noticed that were wrong.

1. They forgot to rivet two of the nylon straps that secure the soft-top frame in place. They didn't notice until I pointed it out. Forgot to do both sides.

Posted Image

2. They forgot to replace the rubber fender guard the goes along the inside of the wheel-well.

Posted Image

3. The door stuck out about 1/8th of an inch from the fender when it was shut.

I express my displeasure on the things above and they extended apologies and promised to fix overnight. I left it with them.

I got a call on Friday Oct. 21st stating it was ready this time. I took off 2 hrs early again, hoping for the best. So far, missed 4 hrs of work total.
They had replaced the rubber Wheel-well guard, they riveted the straps properly, and they had the door aligned correctly.

I then found a couple of other problems.

1. They messed up putting the center console back together (which they said they had to remove to remove part of the soft-top to work behind it.) When they removed the "hoop covers" they didn't know they didn't come apart, and did a shitty job gluing them back together.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

2. They forgot to replace the mud guard that is fitted in the wheel-well in front of the tire.

3. They scratched the oppisite side of the rear of the car when messing with the soft-top.

Posted Image

4.The rubber seal next to the water drain on the softop is damaged and won't go in place. (You can only see it's damaged when the top is down.)

This time I took the car with me. They are ordering the parts and I'm supposed to take it back to fully complete everything when they get here (Tues or Wednesday) and they're putting me in a rental until it's finished.

Overall, the Paint and bodywork they did is very good, they just epic failed on the fit and finish. They are willing to make things right and going the extra mile to do so. While I respect them for that, I will not take another vehicle to them for repair.

Here's the finished product (forgive the pictures, the work is very good)

OUCH! :brokehrt:

I had this happen late last year (someone backed into my innocently parked S). Creased my driver door, had to have the sheet metal replaced. Repair shop I used was Benchmark Collision Center over on Fessler's Ln. They did an incredible job. They matched the Sebring Silver *perfectly* and it looks like new.

Sorry man- that hurts!

DAAAYYYYYYYUM. Sorry bro. That definitely sucks however it could be a LOT worse. IT looks like your bumper will still be salvageable and I would think with a lot of pounding and a stud welder and slide hammer, the rear shouldn't need TOO much bondo. Keep us posted! :tipwink:

I think the bumber will be fine. Repaint only. I'm just a little worried about the bondo stuff.

Thanks for the sympathy.

Can someone come randomly key my car so I can get a new paintjob? :) The majority of my car is perfectly fine but the front bumper needs attention. A lip would cover it all, but I just haven't taken the leap and joined the front lip club yet.

Take the Lip plunge. You won't regret it. Some of the best money spent. You wouldn't believe the difference the OEM lip made to the look of the car. Made me think "why don't they all come with it, it looks 100 times better."

Yessir that's them. Ask for Maurita.
In fairness, I did have to take it back because I didn't like the initial match (too little metal flake), but when they were done, I was amazed. Perfection.

I've actually got an extra set of both. I was looking into doing a hybrid look. Replace the circle part of the tail light with the cool LED section of the AP2's. Haven't had the guts to start cutting yet.

Why don't you just save the AP2's and just manufacture an LED array for the AP1's? I've actually been planning on doing this for awhile if I don't end up getting AP2 tails. I was going to re-do how the turn signals are with the AP1's as well by making the entire white part the turn signal and have the entire white part also be the reverse lights. Wiring them up on the same board, the amber LED's will light up with the turn signals and the white LED's will light up with the reverse lights. I still may do this. Both would become a lot brighter and more reliable.

If you want some help with this, I'm willing. Like I said, I've got an extra set of AP1 tails I'm not as afraid to destroy as the AP2s. We need to get together on this.

Definitely. I'm home almost every day and could get rolling on this anytime. If you wanted to come over with the AP1's we could at least separate the lenses and take measurements and design the boards. (easy part) then order the LED's and construct them. I don't think it'd be terribly hard, and I think it would look fantastic.
