I am hoping that end result justifies how long it is taking them to bring the NSX back.

It better provoke lots of wow reactions.

The most important news is that Honda CEO has confirmed plans of making a supercar. Whether the car is going to be as rumored isn't nearly as an important news, for Honda will not let its new supercar be inferior to its main homeland rivals'.

Give us the HSV-010 GT and be done with it geeeeeeezus how effin hard can it be ?
For one, they couldn't sell it in parts of Europe since the nose is too low, and it wouldn't pass their safety standards. For two, I don't think that Honda really wants to build a $200k LFA competitor. I would expect it to be much more modest than most people are expecting, and unfortunately probably a Hybrid. Instead of a Hyper Halo car I would prefer to see a $30-40k car that can hang with a 370z or Mustang GT in a straight line, and match the s2k's canyon carving abilities.

In the end I see them either building nothing, or making a Halo car that either nearly bankrupts the company, or is a total let down. As you can see, I am well beyond my optimistic phase of supporting Honda's future car lineup. I have huge respect for them as an engine manufacturer, and the bikes that they make are amazing, but whoever has the final say of what cars get built is truly not a Honda enthusiast. I was under the impression that a designer from the original NSX has been running the company for the last few years, but clearly that can't be true.

Sounds like the drivetrain from Honda's Dualnote concept from wayyyyy back in 2001.

Dualnote

"The new-generation Honda Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) System combines a V6 3.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC* engine with electric motor assist. Additional power from the electric motor driving the front wheels raises total output to an astonishing 400HP** and achieves an unprecedented fuel-efficiency of 18km/liter**."

400hp may have been astonishing in 2001 (was it even then?) but certainly not in 2011.

Yep, just as I said 3 years ago, Honda was just waiting for the world economy to pick up a little (even though it's still in the shitter for now) before producing another supercar. In addition, Honda will not sit still while its 2 other Japanese competitors have supercars. It ain't gonna happen!
They are going to bring something to the table eventually (Soon I hope). Take a look at Nissan. It took them 6 years or so to develop the GTR after the discontinuation of the R34 in 2002.

I'm most surprised that anyone still cares at this point.

There's a certain poetry in our longing, no?
