I'm most surprised that anyone still cares at this point.
There's a certain poetry in our longing, no?
sorta, but it's like still pining for some lost long g/f. At this point I can't even remember her name or what she looks like. There are so many awesome affordable cars at this point I really couldn't care less about the NSX or whatever hybrid abomination (and it will be an abomination) honda decides to deliver in 2020.

^ Well put, and honestly do we really expect it to outperform anything else in it's price range? And even if it is the greatest thing ever, how many of us could actually afford it. I have my eyes firmly placed on something much further down the evolutionary ladder than Honda's version of the LFA or GTR. I'll take a C6 Z06 which are starting to drop into the low $40k range, or even lower if you get one with a few miles. Plus the Grand sports' resell price will drop like a rock when the C7's come out, as will the z06 when the C7 z06 comes too. I don't care how amazing the cars of the next 10 years are, they will not be any faster than a Z06 or viper on r-comps. But they will be 10x's more expensive to maintain. Heck the annual running costs of a Z06 are about the same as an oil change on a gtr.

I would love to see Honda come out with a new s2000 or NSX, but I'll get excited about it about the time we see spy shots of it at the ring. (which as we found out before is still a little early to get excited when it comes to Honda these days.)

For one, they couldn't sell it in parts of Europe since the nose is too low, and it wouldn't pass their safety standards. For two, I don't think that Honda really wants to build a $200k LFA competitor. I would expect it to be much more modest than most people are expecting, and unfortunately probably a Hybrid. Instead of a Hyper Halo car I would prefer to see a $30-40k car that can hang with a 370z or Mustang GT in a straight line, and match the s2k's canyon carving abilities.

In the end I see them either building nothing, or making a Halo car that either nearly bankrupts the company, or is a total let down. As you can see, I am well beyond my optimistic phase of supporting Honda's future car lineup. I have huge respect for them as an engine manufacturer, and the bikes that they make are amazing, but whoever has the final say of what cars get built is truly not a Honda enthusiast. I was under the impression that a designer from the original NSX has been running the company for the last few years, but clearly that can't be true.
The nose wasn't too low on the road going version.

But I agree that a LFA competitor would be pointless. It would be nice if that just made a sports car, that a Honda/Acura owner could actually afford.
