Scenic drive on Lanark County Road 511
Hi folks,
This past weekend while in the Calabogie (Ontario) area, I had the opportunity to take the S2000 out for a drive (there was a surprising block of time available between lunch and dinner with the in-laws!) Following through on a suggestion to enjoy the drive along County Road 511, which connects Calabogie to Perth in Eastern Ontario, I was thoroughly impressed at the quality of the roads, the number of corners, and the scenery. And if you're wondering, the 511 is indeed along the way to the Calabogie Motorsports Raceway. Should any of you be in that neck of the woods in the next week or two, I highly recommend it. While not much is found on Lanark County route 511 on the net, this road is at the very least known and appreciated by motorcyclists; many were passed in touring groups. I wish I had a camera handy to mount it for a recording; the fall colours and the sun were just fantastic. I might just have to find some time and try it before all the leaves fall....and will post video here.
The drive takes about an hour and a half, although if short for time, perhaps consider the stretch from Calabogie to Hopetown, the portion that exhibits the most changes in elevation and turns.
Cheers,
