Reviving this thread from the dead. I've finally started the rebuild process. Got a like new crank from Brad and I also replaced #2 rod/piston for good measure. Only problem I ran into upon re-assembly is when I was upgrading the oil jet bolts to the new 4 jet design, #1 jet bolt wouldn't hold a torque. So after scouring the web, I found a tools supply company in the UK that actually sells the appropriate size helicoil that I need to repair the block. It's a crazy rare thread size. M8 x .075 Luckily I found someone who has it.

So far I have the crank with all new main bearings installed and after double checking tolerances with plastigage, I'm right in the middle of the factory spec. I also have the pistons cleaned up and new rings installed. They are now in the block with all new bearings. Checked clearance on those and factory calls for .0012-.0021 inch tolerance and I am sitting right at .0015 inch for every single rod. So I'm in the lower/tighter half of tolerance which is excellent!

Just have to wait for that helicoil kit to come in and then I'll be able to finish re-assembly. I have a number of other things to keep me busy until then though, so I'll keep making progress in other areas. I have to thank Scott for coming out yesterday and helping out. It was greatly appreciated!

Pictures to follow.

No respect I tell ya.. NO respect.. Not to mention the 40 miles of chauffeur service, cleaning up some pistons, scaring your sister-in-law... :hello:

Got my AP2 headlights installed while waiting for my helicoil kit to come in for the engine.

Also got more progress on my civic fog lights. Got the housing fiberglassed on the bottom. Once this dries, I have a tiny strip of bondo to apply to the bumper then sand, prime, and paint. Then off to the other side. Don't mind the nut off to the left, I was just using it as a spacer. :) I am trying to do these in the cleanest manner I've ever seen on an S2000.

Got a few more things done today before my wife left for work. Got the crankshaft pulley installed, AC Compressor installed, routed some of the wiring back. Got The radiator hoses switched out and dropped the exhaust manifold back down in place. Basically I'm just a couple steps away from bolting the head on and completing the rebuild. I'm so thrilled. :drive:
