fill up with a full tank , car registers that its empty on the gauge, fuel light is on
after a couple hundred kms it works registers @ full but i get to about 350-400kms and thats the most ill get out of the tank,
when im near empty it registers as about 1/2 a tank
seems like it has something to do with the float but has ne 1 had this problem? and any ideas on why i get such low kms per tank (this is normal driving)
thanks!

Its either an electrical problem, grounding, dirty contacts, problem with the gauge or something more serious.
I'd clean all contacts etc then probably remove the fuel pump as its not really that difficult. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some build up on the contact on the fuel pump register itself.
