Howdy S2ki community.... :hello:

An inaugural celebration of the "Year of the Dragon."2012.

for the"Enter the Dragon"run, (named after our USA counterparts with "Wake the Dragon").

Posted ImageInterstate & O'seas S 2000 enthusiasts visitors WELCOME !!!

Approximately 88 km's over 77 minutes straight run (google maps); taking in 2 mountains and culminating at the breathtaking, Binna Burra Lamington National Park Mountain top. For lunch at the The Lamington Teahouse.
Bookings for lunch are essential. Lunch is confirmed as a catered BBQ @ $25 per head including perculated coffee. We are situated in the alfresco closed area. Arrangements are to have our own parking area reserved as well.

Meet up time:
SUNDAY 22/1/2012 @ 9.00am for departure 9.30am
This is central for S.E.Qld Honda S 2000 enthusiasts
@ Yatla Pies, Yatla.

Drive & conditions:
Plan on making a leisurely day of this as plenty of good conversation creates great friendships and spreads S 2000 knowledge. Lots of twisties, spirited driving and wide open runs atop the mountain. Well surfaced roads so slight drop ride should be ok. Slammed or Flush/hella flush drive safely
As always you are responsible for how you drive and your own car.

Non S 2000's are welcome as we have a lot of past and some future owners, as per usual if they can stay at the back of the pack and out of photo shoots, then they are most welcome.

1) Route will be up Mt. Tamborine, to the hang gliders lookout, for our first group photo shoot.
2) Continuing on we'll descend the mountain via the "goat track" (regrouping point will be at the stop light
for a quick line up shoot.)
3) Turn LEFT at the intersection at the base of the "goat track", heading towards Canungra Army base where you
turn RIGHT and follow the Beechmont Road up to Beechmont Mt.
4) NOTE: the next regrouping point and photo shoot will be at the Beechmont Primary School Car park opposite
the school.
5) Continuing on we take a short drive and turn LEFT at Binna Burra Rd. to Binna Burra Mt. and The Lamington
House

A top for those that are KEEN, there is also a rainforest treetop flying fox experience.
but you'll have to book, so let me know..

6) Depart for the optional, though recommended drive home (via Nerang.) Heading down the Mountain via Beechmont, and Lower Beechmont to Nerang Gold Coast. Possible photo shoot at the dairy farmhouse if general interest, also an opportunity to buy some FRESH milk.

FOOTNOTE: My dream, would be to have this drive become an annual event with visitors joining in and other locals organizing and creating events around this S.E.Qld annual drive. The possibilities are only limited by your own mind.!!

This should be a good run, although there's a lot to live up to if you want to associate via name with "Wake the Dragon" runs ;) That piece of road in the states looks awesome. My favourite run here would be through the Brisbane and D'Aguilar forests, Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious. That would be a worthy contender as it has a hardened reputation for sending folks off the side of the mountain, into the trees, the hospital or the morgue. Or a combination of all of them.

Yeah not sure if the run will compare this is why i named it "Enter the Dragon". I use to frequent Beechmont a lot, what i remember was wide banking turns and twisties. The mountain top runs are nothing that our previous drives have shown with the wide open spaces and long runs with green paddocks either side. Actually thinking of going topless because of this. The drive down from Binna Burra I particularly like as well. A big proportion of the drive is either ascending or descending the 2 mountains (dragon humps). With the long wide mountain "rim" runs like the back bone.
Be sure to give some feedback after the drive ninelarge on the different experience.

To add to this discussion, found this interesting info, for this April event; "WTDX 2012 (Wake the Dragon 2012), our 10th annual Spring Honda S2000 event on the famous Dragon!
318 curves in 11 miles and plenty of opportunity to socialize with other S2000 enthusiasts. Located in the beautiful mountains of NC/TN."

Care to count number of curves for us Ninelarge.? I wonder whom had the job in the USA.?

Also note that, Chinese New Year Celebrations begin on the 23/1/2012. This is the first of 15 days of celebration and the start of the Year of the Dragon. So our 22/1/2012 will actually mark the "Entering" of ETDX 2012. To quote,"the Year of the Dragon will be marked by excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity."

looking forward to this, all welcome, so please register your interest!!! as bookings for lunch will be made by the 8/1.
