dude in the supra is just toying with the s2k. kinda lame if you ask me. i dont go around finding little b16 hatches to run 4-5 times over and over again in a straight HP race. someone needed and ego "boost" for sure.

I bet the Supra is awful to drive on anything other than a straight line.

some random Motor Trend numbers:
Supra
200' Lateral G: 0.94g
600' Slalom: 68.9mph

S2000
200' Lateral G: 0.90g
600' Slalom: 68.6mph

Now, this is not saying or suggesting the Supra handles better than the S2000... but the Supra isn't an awful car to drive around a corner. Compared to a S2000... absolutely more sluggish, but it's certainly not horrific. Unless, of course, you're a fanboi.

Although I do have to agree... drag racing/freeway races are retarded. One trick ponies. Yawn. It's always funny watching drag racers trying to drive around a corner.

You have missed the point entirely. Those figures backup my comment beautifully. 400 extra horsepower makes the car a very challenging car to drive. Heavy clutches, turbos pushing wads of power in very short spaces of time mean you spend a lot of time trying to wrestle the car into shape rather than having extremely usable power.

Part of the allure the supercharged s2k's have, is not just their reliability and progressive power delivery, but their usability. I imagine you could daily the s2k with very few side effects byre running cost. The supra on the other hand, would be very different.

I'm all for very powerful cars and they're great to see. But the cost is high and the volume of time that you can enjoy that outlay reduces considerably with cars like that supra. The s2k on the other hand, is a very usable car which means the initial outlay to get it to spec is actually more cost efficient.

I have to agree, I have a really hard time driving my car hard at 550 HP other than straight line, thats why I havent driven the car on Q16 at 610 yet. The car goes from making ZERO trq to 400ft lbs in seconds, it's impossible to use that around a track. I don't mind because I like the highway pulls/drag racing, but if I were to road race my S, I would probably just do ITBs and a really nice exhaust for sound :).

Supras are badass, but everyone knows how much power they can make, I pull on Porsches/ Z06s and they are literally in shock, lol. A lot of them give me a ton of respect (some get pissed off, lol) it's like David vs Goliath. I would rather have an S2000 at 600 HP, as opposed to a Supra at 1,000HP, but different strokes for different folks blah blah

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, genius. Gold star for you today.

C7 JFW was trying to make a case that the S2000 > Supra due to driveability. My rebuttle is, how is a 500WHP+ S2000 anymore drivable than a 700WHP+ Supra (as seen in the video)? Reading comprehension fails you so gonna take away your gold star. No gold star for you today, young grasshopper.

Huh? I was commenting directly on the video content(please see my post if you are dumbfounded). Not the pointless e-quarrel you two ladies are enveloped in.

So WHO is the one with an iq 2 standard deviations less than the mean?

You dont have to answer that, the 5'th protects special people like you. ;-)

Having ridden in a 1000 whp supra. I can definitely say... i don't see how that f@#king power is usable ANYWHERE but on a highway. You couldn't use that power in daily traffic, you couldn't use it on a road that isn't 3 lanes wide (just in case) and you couldn't use it at low speeds.

When the power hits, it's like warp drive.

Also where is the obligatory link to the Puerto Rican S2000 running 7's now? Also the video of it racing the 2jz s2000 and straight beating it's ass.

That's a negative. A 2JZ will give you more power under the curve, spool massive turbos earlier, and the longer wheelbase makes that power more manageable.

The S2k is a lightweight, fun, tossable roadster. It has no business making 500hp, let alone 1000.

Yeah, I guess you are right. Considering Many s2k's on video yank equivalent hp Supras. Let alone HONDZLLA hanging with a higher hp Supra...Check it out in Street Encounters. I have NEVER seen a Supra with the same HP pull on an FI S2k. Hmmm..let me see. There's gearing that comes into play, power to weight.........

Maybe you've never driven a 500hp S2000??

That's right about where my power level is and it's an absolute blast to drive up in the twisty mountain roads :tipwink:

Just FYI, the supra makes ~680whp (maybe more now) and the s2k said he was on ~10psi, making low 400s
