Hi Guys,

Dorset Breakfast Run – Bournemouth -> Compton Abbas Airfield (B3081) – Sunday 5th February 2012

Following the success of the last meet, I am going to start these up for 2012 and run them every 6 - 8 weeks depending on interest. I think we had 5 cars last time and it looks like there are some new faces around Bournemouth and Poole and also some people who were unable to make the last meet, so hope we can get a good turnout for these.

The route takes in some great B roads with good visibility, straights for passing and a brilliant mix of corners. The round trip distance is about 70 miles. We normally arrive at the airfield just after 9AM (café opens at 9.30 but we can wait inside) for breakfast, coffee and plane spotting ;) before taking the same route back at around 10.30.

The pace was quick last time :burnrubr: , however there are a couple of 20 and 30mph villages to respect on the way through (this also gives everyone a chance to regroup, although I will do my best to keep everyone together). We will also wait at junctions for everone to catch up so please don't feel pressured to keep together if there is a bit of traffic - just back off on the straights and enjoy the corners :)

The road is likely to be damp in places given the time of year and there was a covering of wet leaves in the tree lined sections last time but hopefully these have gone by now. I will run the route on my own the day before and will let you know what the road conditions are like.

We will be meeting at the Cooper Dean Harvester car park in Bournemouth at 7.50 – 8.00 AM for a departure at 8.15. As before we will slow down through Verwood to pick up anyone up from the Salisbury area who wishes to join en route.

Yep - used your meets guide as a template - very useful. Just need to take 30 mins to look at the link you posted about creating the files.

Of course!

Loads of B&B's around here but I would imagine the quality varies a lot. Tripadvisor probably a good place to start or there are premier inns and travelodges as far as the eye can see which should be cheap if you book in advance.

I could recommend some B&Bs in the Sherborne/Yeovil area, although its a good 45 min drive away from Poole where we are set to meet.

Let me know if i can help!
