I've looked at the pics posted and none of you guys seem to have a plunger switch the front left, right where the vanes are cut - i assume this is related to the alarm

I'm loathe put a hole in this lovely plate so im stumped on what to do...any suggestions>

I had one on mine. I just unscrewed it and removed it and taped up the wire with electrical tape. As long as it doesn't close the loop the alarm won't go off.

It's only aluminium so drilling a little hole isn't that hard, just predrill it with a tiny one and slowly put the bigger hole in.

Those 6 little punched louvres will flow very little air. The airbox will be pulling in air from elsewhere.

I reckon in summer the standard airbox might struggle, been driving it for a week now and it feel like it's kangarooing/heatsoaking more than before

I think married to an induction kit there will be no problems but as you say, it wont help with an OE airbox.

if you've got the plastic air guide still fitted then that only has a few holes (diagonal slots) in it feeding air into oem airbox. You could try opening up the slots like the Mugen intake install but the louvred openings in the cooling plate do look quite restrictive.

I was thinking of removing the plastic underneath the cooling plate, see if that helps, or maybe just buy myself a cold air kit :)

You have a cold air feed - it's sat just behind your headlight. Have a look in the round hole and you'll see :)
Yes this is the space where a signature should be and no, this is not a signature.

Why you do not want to order ANY of your S2000 parts from ANY UK Honda Dealer

Hmmm so could butcher the airbox to get the cold air from there

i didn't twig that the plate would be so restrictive on the standard set up. I think with that, and the alarm switch I'll look to move the plate on (at cost). I dont fancy messing the airflow up - I like to get the engine nice and hot!

:backtopic:
So finally made the time to install my nice new x-member cover, I always knew that the intake I run and the method of mounting the Mugen intake onto the x-member would make the install a bit more tricky than the described five minute job in the Alloy Craft instructions. It soon became evident that the intake, intake arm and cooling plate would all need to come out, that changed it to a two hour job.

The x-member cover is nicely finished and the fittings seem well thought out. I could only use the supplied fittings on one side. The other side has the Mugen CAI bracket obstructing the hole in the x-member that the supplied brackets need to use. I was surprised that given the thought that has been put into the fittings that I needed to spend quite a bit of time with the dremel, grinding at the brackets to get them to fit into the x-member. Not a problem because the dremel was always going to be needed to cut a gap into the cover for the CAI bracket.

I've used the supplied brackets on one side and also used double sided trim tape across the length of the cover.

Started late in the afternoon so the light was fading by the time it was finished, flash photo's don't really do the engine bay justice  .

Finally a big thanks to Glen for sorting out the parts, Alloy Craft seem to make these things in small numbers so having a big order seems to help speed things along.
