I haven't considered those.. i'll take a look. GTI does look pretty good but its only 2 door and I'm not sure what the backseat is like.. But it does look fun.

The GTI is available as a 4 door too.

my avid snowboarding + your baby = wrx. Although on the uglier side, the 2.4 in the new si, if its anything like the tsx, is a buttery smooth engine that would be the perfect daily driver in 4 door guise I think

I have a 4 door mkv GTI and a 20 month old. It has honestly been great, more than enough room in the back seat for a full sized car seat (started out backward facing but its front facing now). We have another baby on the way and no plans to change cars, the GTI will fit 2 car seats so we're keeping it.

You should take an MKV or MKVI for a spin, it's relatively fun to drive, gets decent gas mileage, your wife can drive it if you get the DSG and they have a surprising amount of interior space considering the exterior dimensions.

WRX gives you better performance but its manual only, takes more gas and I think insurance can be expensive.
