When I go on the forums and see how much fun the guys over in the wast coast are having with the S2000 challenge I Truly get jealous!! Why cant we start a S2000 Challenge here in the east coast. Wecan keep it simple with local tracks like Thunder( NJMP) or lightning also ( NJMP) pocono etc... There is a racing series called RTA ( RealTimeAttack) which is basically a time trial but with media coverage and trophies and amongest all of us we can figure out a point system like the guys over in the west. Hopefully there are enough guys in the metro section that are down for this. I know the founders of RTA and I can have a talk with them and setup a S2000 group with only S2000 and categorize ourselves by modifications and tires. Hope we can get some people who are willing to make this work I think it could be really fun !!!

There are a few track guys here but for the most part Metro just goes to meets. If it's set up right and planned well you might get a few guys.

Since this is actual racing, and not just a track day, I'm going to assume the chance for accidents is much higher. Therefor, I don't know if I would feel comfortable bringing my minty low mileage AP1 out there. However, I wouldn't mind finding a second, higher mileage s2k and participating in these events with it. Only problem with that is, I'm kind of saving for a house right now and that would put a dent in the down payment I'm looking to put down. Does anyone know how many on track altercations there were at the s2k west coast challenge?

I dont believe the west coast s2k challenge is an actual race. Its more of a time attack where your placed base on your fastest lap time. Like redline time attack.

Well you guys are right it is like a time attack, but regardless its within s2000 owners and people who are passionate about tracking there S2000's. I dont see why we cant make this happen . I can speak to the right people and def set this up. I know about 4 guys off the top of my head so the more people the better. RTA ( real time attack ) has a shedule out already realtimeattack.com and we can join with them and have our own group . Which will be the s2000 chhallenge

I think your biggest hurdle here is that there are far fewer track prepped cars in the NY metro area than in Cali. Also, tracks on the east coast are far more stringent about safety requirements. In the west coast tracks where they basically run on desert, they don't care about rollbars and other things as much. Here, they will require rollbars at a minimum. I would definitely love to see a S2k only class to compete in though.

Post details and list requirements. Many will say yes but few will actually commit or even be able to. I would love to do this but won't even say I am in till I know more.

Here are the rules and classes.

S2K Challenge RUles - 2012

I would think all participating would need to run with a group that allowed open passing, otherwise it would be tough to go for times. And since it's a timed event, there would likely be no insurance, not even HPDE specific insurance.
