Why not whack some of that heavy duty 3M carbon fibre looking stuff on the interior panels?

Okay its not the best looking stuff but should tidy it up and stop any cuts to your fingers etc, it will weigh naff all too.

Its a doddle to fit too, even YOU could do it :D

Ron, it's a Custom Cage kit, you can only build it one way ;)

Fair enough :)

Still confused at why they didn't do that though - reduce complexity, install time and weight.

Must be a regs reason.

Yep not sure. The blue book does go into a fair bit of detail on cage design and welding. Not had time to read it yet though...

Top crossbar arrives today, as they forgot to send it. Once thas in, the side bars need to go it (which worries me as I struggle to get in and out even now!) then it can be sprayed. Then it's battery relocation and switch stuff. Still a fair bit to do. Corner weighting, tyres etc etc... i really don't want to know the bill :(

I'll be popping down to see Andy in early March so hopefully your car will still be there so I can have a look in person!

I'm not sure, but you might want to dig out the Blue Book and have a shufty.

I thought the rules stated you have to have side impact bars for circuit racing, 2 on the driver's side (a friend and NSSCC competitor is having just this problem at the moment with his Elise - with cross bars in the doorway there's hardly any room to climb in and he's not a small bloke, MSA say a single bar is enough because of the tub chassis and have given him special dispensation, NSSCC scrutineer disagrees and is insisting on him sticking to the letter of the Blue Book). I don't see any side impact protection on the cage in the pics, or is it not finished?

I could be wrong, The Clio and Ginetta are both used, so we didn't have to worry, but I'd make sure you're eligible - it's one theng they probably won't let you get away with not being right on race day.

I take it back - just saw the 'side bars go in today' - I guess that means you'll be compliant :)

;)

yep side bars today.

He's built a lot of rally cars and has a scrutineering mate, so hopefully it's all covered.

Ta muchly

Well they were almost for sale but found a way of shoehorning them in! While all the interior is out, and therfore seats hsould have gone in easy, the cage side bars makes things tricky accessing the bolts. The BuddyClub XL is wide too. I can fit in the regular ones though so wouldn't have been the end of the world.

It's going to be a bastard to get out of! The only plus point is the snap off steering boss will help.

Been reading again, but I wonder if gluing your roll cage in would be allowed?
