Like the title states, need a set of Yokohama Sdrives, seeing if anyone can beat the shipped tire rack price. Have to stick to Sdrives as I'm splitting a set with my dad, and I have Sdrives already that are mint. Any help would be great

Interesting ...

If anyone does have that kind of a hook up and can just match tirerack.com prices, I will be there today to buy tires.

Yeah shipping alone is around $50, so for a business address would be easy to Pass along the shipping savings alone

I have yet to find a shop that will sell tires (even with shipping) as low as tire rack. So if anyone knows a spot that offers the same price including shipping .. I am there! As long as they don't charge 50 a tire extra for mounting and balancing. Some shops do and that is just insane!

One other option you can do is have tirerack ship it to someone like Al's hubcaps (who only charges 26 each tire) directly and it usually comes out much cheaper than most places. I used to work for a Goodyear and the mark up on tires can be crazy. We would usually toss in free mounting and balancing with the purchase. Most places won't even budge on that when they can be making up to 80 or more on each tire.

Yeah I just checked sts, and they want at least $40 more per tire, that's before tax and mounting. That's a joke

I've had hit or miss pricing with tires. Normally I figure out how much the tires I want would cost from TireRack (with shipping) and then add on the $100 or so for installation. Then I call around and see if anyone wants to beat that price. I've had tire shops tell me that they can't beat it and to order it from TireRack but on one occasion locally turned out to be a few buck cheaper.

I usually end up going through TireRack because of the sales tax advantage. Overall, it's not a big deal if you can get the tires you want from the TireRack's MD warehouse; IIRC they usually arrive next day.

Go to ALL Weather Tire in Huntington (google it). Call them. They almost always have the same if not better price than tire rack + include installation. They work on Porsches and Lambos there sometimes. When i got my S's tires last time a lp-560 was next to me. They made sure they didn't get any scratches; etc on the wheels. Once you start going there if you get to know the owners they hook it up even further. A friend of mine takes me there and gets me an even better discount + no tax.

Shasan thanks for the heads up, called all weather tire and if you subtract the usual cost of mount/balance ($100) they offered me the tires with tax(assuming8%,not sure) at only $6 more than tirerack would for tires shipped. Gonna go with them, thanks!

American wheel and Tire in Yonkers right off the deegan. Ask for Russ Jr. He will take care of you and he will make sure not to place a mark on your wheels.

He did my freshly powder coated CCW's and paid careful attention. He's a car enthusiast (built his cobra kit car) and has attention to detail. Anyway he will give you a good price and great service, not some idiot mounting tires as fast as possible!
He will actually take the time to align the yellow dot on the tire (marks the lightest point of the tire) with the valve stem on the wheel (heaviest point on the wheel)

Yeah once i get my new Volks in I'll have to be very selective of where I bring them to get tires mounted. I've had the touch less mounting done before and my wheel still got scratched. It would be nice to have a guaranteed mounting and balancing because after dropping so much money on wheels the last thing I want to see is even a tiny scratch. Is that even possible?

Sorry Stan, don't mean to jack your thread, but anyone know where I can get my tires mounted and nitrogen filled? And how much?

Do many people here use nitrogen? It doesn't seem worth it to me.

Interesting read. I just prefer to start up my car in the morning with all four tires having the same psi. I used to have a 350z and would notice a difference of 1-3psi between the tires on the side the sun came up on and the side in the shade. Few extra bucks to satisfy a quirk I guess.

Haha, thanks Bill, will be in touch soon. As far as 1psi per month I've never seen than in my own experience so nitrogen seems to be excessive but to each their own, I think it all comes down to availability and price.

Waiting on a call back from All weather on some Direzza Star Spec prices and Continental DWS's :fingerscrossed:

Anyone know if Tirerack charges per tire for shipping or for all 4? Their shipping quite to me is about 50 bucks. Not bad for 50 but then also have to add about 100 from mount and balance.

Yeah I got the call back and it seems they match prices very well. I added 25 bucks for mounting and balancing to the tire rack price and They were pretty much the same price.
