Hey everybody.. I'm in New Jersey (Belmar - 07719) and I'm looking for a good mechanic familiar with the s2k platform to take a look at my car. A while back I was driving it and noticed the acceleration was lagging and the check engine light was blinking. I pulled over then the car stalled. It never started since. A local honda dealer told me something along the lines of "a previous owner may of had nitrous in the car.. there were tiny pin holes in the pistons. The #2 coil melted in to the cylinder head" (or something similar.. it's been a while). He told me the entire engine needed to be replaced.

The car is a '00 with 121k. I would like a second opinion before I decide what I'm about to do with it (fix it or sell it as-is). Could anyone recommend someone?

Your problem was the result of a lose spark plug, it is the only way to melt a coilpack. Extra air is sucked past the threads, goes way lean, the cylinder runs red hot, and has a blowtorch effect on the plug and coil.

Sometimes the lower end is fine.

So in worst case scenario new Longblock? How much would something like that cost + install.

Used engine you can find for around 2000-3000 depending on year and mileage. Install around $800-$1000 ish.
