Hi all

I got my S last year and after nearly 12 months of awesome motoring and never getting tired of the sound of 8000+rpm, it's time for a service.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but are Crown Honda in Hendon worth considering? Mine's a 52 plate with approx 78k on the clock so will need a bit of attention from someone that knows what they're doing rather than just hoping it's the same as any other 2 litre Honda they've seen...

Or are there any good alternatives in North London?

Cheers

TM

Crown Bushey have a pretty good reputation, so I guess Hendon would be similar.

Have a look through this for some dealer feedback. http://www.s2ki.com/...-please-use-it/

I use Brayley Hemel nowadays as they are easier to get to for me.

Hendon is my local garage and I just took my S2 (04 plate)for a service there last Wednesday (fourth one since ownership). Only ever had level 2/3 service as advised by them and never had a chance to speak to the engineer. The customer service is friendly and polite. They provide a free MOT with the service at a different garage so my car always has a few extra miles added on, which they always reassure me is not a joy ride. On my 3rd service the air pump relay failed (small electrical fire as confirmed by the AA) 4 days after the service. Took it back to Crown Honda Hendon to repair, total cost was £1000! I did have the extended warranty at the time and after a long and heated discussion (including a call to Honda UK) they agreed on the warranty covering all the costs of repair. The last service on the car seems ok, car drives the same as usual. I did find 2 small deep scratches though, probably caused by an electric polisher. Couldn't be bothered to waste any time with repairs so quick patch job myself. Will do a proper job when the weather's better. Also, they did call up to suggest that I replace all my tyres as the tread was 3mm, the quote was £1200. Had both door actuators replaced in 2010, cost was I think £350, again on warranty. So I can't really recommend Hendon because although their service plan is a good price, if they find anything that requires fixing, it could end up being very expensive.

Does it absolutely have to be Honda? have you thought about asking DMS Motorsports or even TGM?

The guys at both establishments will be more than capable of looking after you and your S

Thanks for the feedback

I'm more than happy not to take it to a Honda dealer - I've never had a main dealer service in my life.

Are DMS worth the drive (about an hour there and a mission on the train back) or is there anywhere nearer N6 that people recommend?

Cheers

If you're a member of S2KUK, Crown should give to a 10-15% discount which puts their prices into similar territory to the indys, without the hassle of going south of the river.

Give them a call and double check though.

I'm getting my full service and MOT at DMS next month. I'm very careful about who works on my car having had bad experiences in the past. If reviews and testimonials are anything to go by, DMS or TGM are worth the travel.

Turns out I agree: would much rather drive right across London than risk someone making a mess of my car. A long time ago someone messed up replacing the cam belt on my first car and 5000 miles later we had some big bills!

Have dropped it off at DMS today so hopefully should be good news.

Thanks for the tips

No worries. Dixon knows his stuff, you will be well looked after.

You could just wait til it's finished of course and drive it back, a service and mot don't take long and Dixon is always there to talk you into buying nice things or doing track days :D

That assumes I was organised enough to book it in with enough notice to get the MOT set up! It was there for a big service and probably needs a bit of heat and maybe a new rear wheel nut to stop the clicking so I might have been talking for longer than my bank account could afford...

I arrived half 10ish, just after a Moonrock one left Dixon said..

Yours was parked with the roof down, it needs the straps tightened up :)

I'm not sure the button to make the roof come up actually works unless it's raining or snowing. Haven't tried...

Just collected and it seems like a great call, the rattles have gone and I think she's pulling a better, turn in is quite a bit sharper now the alignment's been sorted and through the MOT and everything so hopefully should be good for another year, unless I chew my tyres up again...took the woolwich ferry back too which was a change from sitting in traffic

Thanks for the rec

Now, to plan the next road trip...
