Although I'm a roof to the good, I can't help but feeling a little deflated, in fact I even feel a bit sorry for the dealership. I have a feeling from what the dealer principal was saying, that although my salesperson who has now left, stated when he contacted him that he never promised such a thing, I believe he was dismissed for some reason shortly after my sale with him.

There might be reason believe I was told what I wanted to hear to make a end of month sale for target or such, and that Chester Honda as such didn't know of the deal. On the back of that they could have been a bit better since the car was sold with a tear and it should have been fixed from that alone.

I hope that all my dealing with them from now on are what I've known it to be like from other family and friend experience, had it been a normal car I can't help but think I would have been a happy bunny and that would have been it.

As it stands, they've gone beyond what I expected with offering to pay for half of any alloy wheel work I have done, and the price for three services at £530 @ 0% if I want is a damn good deal, along with a 24 month warranty I'm sure I'm going to have easy motoring from now on.

When I get time tomorrow I'll delete any posts I feel have a little too much emotion attached to them, and leave a brief explanation for any future searches.

Well HUK are as much use as a chocolate teapot.

I had the big chief from the dealer phone to sort out the issue, and it's agreed a new roof will be fitted at their cost via Swansea, and since they can't get a diamond finish on the alloy wheel they will pay half the cost for doing all 4 elsewhere.

Both a huge result in the circumstances, well done. And in fairness, well done to Chester Honda for doing it right (more than right) in the end.

Not that it matters now in this case, but regarding those who have advised against a legal route on the grounds of hassle and risk of opponents cost:

Small Claims are largely handled by on-line submission and considerably less onerous than even the effort the OP has put in here to set out their case. The majority are not heard in person and the claimant can specifically for opt for adjudication in absentia - the Small Claims Adjudicator simply considers the on-line submissions of both parties and delivers biding adjudication. There is no allocation of costs by Small Claims courts - the fee is the maximum liability. Even the risk of loosing a goodwill offer is minimal as adjudication is likely to set out that such a payment should be made, and accepted; and the matter closed. The only proviso is that the claimant must have made "reasonable effort" to settle the matter directly with the other party.

In summary, it's maximum £80 and a couple of hours typing to have your point of view heard if that's what you want.
