2013 is going to be an exciting year for the Extreme Performance Summer tire segment. Dunlop has their ZII coming to replace their Z1 Star Spec later this year, Bridgestone has their RE-11A to replace their RE-11 in March of 2013, and it looks like Kumho has a new tire to replace their Ecsta XS that should be available sometime in 2013. I couldn't find any more info. just a few pictures form the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon.

Jim, do you know anything about these or when we will see them in North America?

Someone mentioned these kuhmo's last week and just pulled up a google search and this pic came up Being a buyer of their one and only odd size 295/35/17 XS I'm interested to hear more about this new tire and if it will be offered in my size since it seems the XS is being discontinued?

Yeah I know, I just picked up some 255's for the front too. Will be needing rears by Summer/Fall. Sounds like they may be coming out by then hopefully and in my size.

So I called Kuhmo today and talked to John in product Development to ask about the new V720 and my current 295/35/17 production, and just wanted to pass on some info he told me regarding the release time of this new V720. Sounds like they are still in the middle of development and they are not planning on having out to market until 2014 sometime. Another production run of the old SX will be made for this year he said.

That actually makes me happy. First of all theres so many new tires coming out and its hard enough to pick which ones to try first. More importantly though, this will allow Kumho to wait and see what they have to try and beat

Yeah John expressed their goal of being the #1 out of the line up this go around. I'm sure that's every manufactures goal, but like you said being last in line for development does give them an advantage.That would make me happy as well since im pretty much forced to run them, in the rear anyway. Ive got no real complaints with XS for what I use them for, so any improvements at all would be icing on the cake.

It's already 2014. When is this tire coming out? Please keep the 295/35/17 size.

My educated guess is that these will be released around the same time as the Hankook R-S4. Summer 2014 is the target for Hankook last I heard.
