Hi all! It has been awhile. I still have the car after all these years!

The 2018 Update:

Recently I replaced the battery again and decided to replace alternator just because.(Denso)
I still get the random CEL. It's a bummer, but now that the car is over 15 years old, the CEL doesn't bother me TOO much (Can still pass inspection)

My belief is it just stems from the header/test pipe/exhaust...

Yeah, the neck of the filler pipe is defective on some of the cars. Some times the cap starts to click long before it is seated on the tank neck. It feels like it is tight, but it is only the threads binding up. I'll squeeze the cap to lock up the slip/click mechanisim and turn it almost another revolution before it is actually tight.

Bill, do you get a CEL from that? That would be some sort of EVAP/emissions code on the scanner, right?

I believe I still have the CEL yes (I just don't drive it much lately) Whether or not it's a true misfire is still in the air

Hi All,

I sold the car. I had a nice 13 year run with it. It will be missed bad.

I discussed everything with the new owner and he is excited to diagnose the problem. Since I told him everything I had done to it, and to check out this forum post, he started with cleaning fuel injectors. He already thinks that this could be the issue, it's better already and with no CEL. but myself or him will update this if it comes back on.

Just figured I would update everyone
