Never been to a NASA event, are they S friendly? Possibly interested in NJMP for the May date. Ever driven those two? I think SCDA usually does a 2 day 2 track there too. It sure is along haul for me though!

NASA is S friendly, BUT they are more anal than SCDA.

I think you have to go through the HPDE 1 and get signed off before going to HPDE 2. Rather than question it last year, I just signed up for HPDE 1. The instruction is personal. Call before the event to discuss your goals. I don't rtemember any classroom work.

Went in March. First time out with the car since November. I was nervous about my tires on the wettish track. I didn't like having an instructor in the car - a first for me. In any event, although he liked my track management, he didn't like the fact that I red lined a couple of times and he didn't think I was particularly smooth in the turns. So I'm still in Intermediate 1 (Oops, giving myself too much credit: Novice, actually.) No big deal.

Cost $45 to join last year.

Paul - Jeff is right. NASA is very S2000 friendly. My instructor from the event was an S2000 owner himself and he races in NASA's Honda Challenge Series. If you ever want to go the route of getting a race license I think they are as good a group as SCCA, perhaps even better.

They are thorough with the tech inspection, much like BMW CCA. As I was getting ready to go out on track, I was stopped by a NASA steward in pit lane, who asked me to flip my visor close because my car had air bags - so yes they are that anal.

With your experience, you should be able to get right into their advanced groups. Jeff and I registered as Novices but I don't think you have to start at the bottom if you want to run with them. They are a good group.

I see that they have two events at Lime Rock next year. I will try to make both of those. I also hope to go to event at Mid-Ohio but that may be unlikely. I may just do their school at WGI.

oh! and thanks for starting this up Jeff. Already looking forward to next season

Just looked up the SCDA website. Their 2013 calendar will supposedly be out soon.

Looked at the NASA dates again. It appears they will not have an event at Mid-Ohio this year. The nationals were held at M-O last year. Miller, is a much longer drive, so I guess I'll have to stick with doing the events at LRP and if possible do a single event at WGI. Have never driven the S at WGI, so that should be a new experience.
