I'm looking into boosting my baby(2005) and was thinking of going the SC route as it's "safer" but it doesn't really kick in until you rev it up. Which route should I go and what do you think is the best choice? Please explain as much as possible.

imo supercharging would be the best route since it's a linear power band and not too much power where it starts to upset the balance of the car.

Mine is supercharged but i think i might go turbo next year. The power is so unusable on the street. Unless your constantly in the upper rpm's then it takes a while to have the power kick in, its like driving a big 2-stroke. One benefit is since the power is so linear the car rarely loses traction.

I'm still in the same boat, here's my thoughts;

Supercharger
Pros:
Linear powerband, more "stock-like" and retains the same S2000 feel
More reliable
Cheaper
Lower maintenance
Easy to reverse
No relocations necessary
Cons:
Not much faster than stock at base boost levels until higher rpms
Doesn't make cool noises like turbo
Not as fast as turbo
Bad gas mileage

Turbo
Pros:
fast as shit
Much more usable powerband
Many different options available
Engine can hold tons of power
Great gas mileage if you stay out of boost
makes awesome sounds
Cons:
More expensive
More "prep" work needed like EMS, injectors, relocations and depending on power level, reinforced transmission components
More prone to breaking things like diff/axles/transmissions
High maintenance
heat is a big concern

If you are creative and want to have some fun putting together your own setup, then turbo has sooo many different options as far as what turbo, what manifold, what wastegate setup, and so-on. Superchargers are far more "bolt-on" it seems with less ways to "customize". Sure you can change BOV's, intake setups, and maybe go crazy like 99SH and work in a wastegate setup... but it seems turbo setups are limitless.

i agree with most of this. but a centrifugal supercharger can have all the same "cool noises" and more of a turbo.

The powerband of the supercharger while driving is much more predictable than a turbo setup (generally).

it depends on what you want as well. Supercharging is good for up to 400-500 whp and if you want anything above you should go turbo.

I'm Vortech supercharged.

I've done both. If you like to drive her frequently and spiritedly be prepared to take measures for heat protection. I'm sc'd and honestly, if you have enough whp to spin the rear tires at highway speed (top of second), do you need more?
