There’s a Storm a Blowin’… Come to the New England Nor’easter
The Nor’easter is the name of the biggest, wildest, event filled Northeast Coast S2000 meet of the year. And you are all invited! Located on the beautiful Atlantic coast in Mystic Connecticut, this event could be a weekend get-a-way or the cornerstone of your summer vacation. The New England S2000 Owners (NES2KO) have come up with a full package, including hotel discounts, receptions, meals, a S2000 car show, on-site dynomometer testing, paintless dent removal, car care clinic, Casino drive, Wine drive, Banquet, autocross….. The list goes on and on. The fun starts Friday, August 11 and ends on Sunday August 13, 2006. There are already over 60 cars and over 100 people registered to attend. New England still has room for 35 more cars, but the hotel must release the rooms no later than July 11, so hurry if you want to make it to this event. You do not want to be left out.
The fun will begin Friday afternoon with check-in at the hotel. The New England crew has arranged a great discount at the newly renovated Best Western in Mystic. The great rates are also available Thursday, Sunday and Monday night so many folks are already taking advantage of the group rate discount to extend their stay and make this trip a real vacation. Every registrant gets a gift bag filled with items provided by the New England crew and our great sponsors. This goodie bag will include a set of door lock plugs colored to match your car handmade by Cubs2k, one of NES2KO’S members! There will be a Friday night reception located at the hotel. Dinner will be on your own, so this will be an opportunity to sample some of the local restaurants with your S2000 buddies.
Saturday morning starts with a full American breakfast, all part of your hotel rate. We then travel a short distance to the site of one our fabulous sponsors, Cardinal Honda. Enter your car in the car show! We will have prizes for the best custom car, the best detailed car, and the best sound system are just some of the awards! Are you an engine mod freak? Have your car dynoed on-site dyno with HollyRoller dyno at a low, discounted rate. Does your baby need some special TLC? Tim the ding man will be on hand to remove dings and dents with his paintless dent removal system at meet discounts. All this, and Cardinal will be providing a free lunch too!
After lunch on Saturday, you will have your choice of two different drive destinations. New England’s good friends over in Metro, led by Defender, will take a group on a spirited ride to the nearby Casinos. Meanwhile, New England’s own Paivag has selected a special route to each of the winery’s we will be visiting for our Wine Drive! New England’s members will lead a tour of the wine country of Connecticut with stops at some excellent local vinyards. The New England club will also provide folks with a list of some local Mystic activities if they would rather stay in town and sight see. There will be something for everyone.
Don’t stay out too late Saturday afternoon. You’ll want to back at the hotel in time for the banquet we have planned for you. The dinner will be followed by an award ceremony for the winners of our car show and dyno contest. We will also announce the winners of our many great raffles. We have prizes ranging from Rick’s gift certificates, to a custom sub woofer box from New England’s Kinetic Motorsports, to a custom amp rack made by PaS2kNut. At the banquet, we will have a special guest, Tom Balon of Vehinet Vintage Racing & Sports Cars. Tom will be giving us a presentation of how our engine’s work, and we are also working on additional special guests! After dinner, Legal Bill will host a Vintage reception at the hotel. These “experienced” members know how to party, and while you have to be over 40 to be Vintage, the Vintage group always encourages the participation of respectful pre-vints. If karaoke is your thing, then this is the place to be. If you want to party elsewhere, there is a bar at the hotel AND the hotel has a FREE shuttle service to and from the Casinos, so no one needs to risk drinking and driving at this event.
Sunday morning starts with the same full breakfast. Then you have your choice of attending a “fast” autocross or sleeping in a bit and going on a rally-like poker run. The poker run is designed to take you to the autocross so you can cheer on your favorite S2000 racer. We will then have a combined award ceremony at the autocross before we say our goodbyes. The autocross is located close to the Connecticut/New York border, so if you must leave New England on Sunday, you are a bit closer to home.
