In a report posted by Autoblog today, the S2000 ranked as the 10th most stolen car for 2008 in the United States according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The IIHS uses insurance claim data and the number of insured vehicles to tabulate a Most Stolen Vehicle List based on the number of vehicles stolen per 1000.
The S2000 theft rate is close to 1% according to the IIHS. That is sure to make your insurance company a little nervous!
The 2005-2007 S2000 ranks 10th in 2008 with a score of 8.1 per 1000 insured vehicles with an average loss per claim of $13,624. The report only covers model years 2005-2007.
